This was the last dinner that our Explore Worldwide group had in India and I don't think we could have gone to a better hotel. This is a fabulous place with all the memorabilia on the walls upstairs of the old movie stars that would have graced the dining tables 50 - 60 years ago. The hotel was here since 1783 and is now a heritage building which has retained it's colonial charm.
It is like walking through a museum upstairs furnished with beautiful colonial style couches, chairs, tables and lamps and paintings on the walls and photos of some famous guests from over the years including Partick Swayze, Felicity Kendall, Tom Stoppard, Julie Christie, Sting and Michael Palin.
The staff were very friendly and encouraged us to visit the upstairs to look at the splendour therein.
I had an excellent dinner although service was a bit slow and I had to ask for my lime sode three times. I had leek and potato soup which although tasty was watery and not creamy as I thought it would be. A very generous helping of chicken fried rice I did not quite manage to finish. A fresh lime soda and a diet coke were my drinks. I can't believe I didn't have my usual Kingfisher beer for my last night ?? The bill was just short of £6 - very good value.More
