A Pleasant Stay

Staff are well trained and smiley. Not pushy and very helpful when asked.

Food was good. Breakfast buffet is properly stocked with Western and Indian choices. (also a tiny Chinese noodle bar).

Room is clean.

While understood that hotel is a heritage property, it is still a little too dated and requires some upgrades. Water drips from ceiling during rain. Carpet looks moldy (perhaps just change it to a different shade and pattern). Wooden furniture in room while fully functional, looks dated and needs polishing/ repainting.

My pet peeve is that toilet seat is way too tall for Asian lady.

A great hotel, in a excellent location

I do like the convenience of being checked into my room, actually in the room! and what a great room it was, being of a very generous size and with all the amenities you could wish for.

Only negative side of the room was that it was street facing where there were lots of local hawker stands outside which was great for an evening walk, but not so great if you wanted to get to sleep as despite some good double glazing, in the evening there was some noticeable noise from outside.

Breakfast buffet wasn't the most generous in terms of its choices (although it did have a very good choice of breads and pastries).

The staff themselves were excellent and attentive, and it was fun to see some of the younger staff indulging in a little "hero worship" with members of one of the IPL Cricket Team's.

I appreciated the coffee and pastries being available in reception in the morning for check out.

Room tip: I would suggest pool facing rooms when possible.

Indeed the hotel is very centrally located with the famous New Market in close vicinity. I am glad you loved the in-room check-in, spacious and well appointed guest room and personalized attention. I have also taken note of your disappointment with the view from the room (city view room overlooking the shopping streets) and apologize for the disturbance caused to you due to noise from the streets. I have also noted your feedback regarding the breakfast spread. In addition to the buffet breakfast we also serve a ‘hot made to order breakfast’ and I have shared your feedback with our executive chef that you felt the spread was not adequate. I am happy that you loved the take away breakfast trolley in the lobby for early morning departures.

THE GRAND FEELING

We stayed for our anniversary. the brilliance of GRAND has been told a million times i guess. they make you feel like near and dear ones. the check-in was breezy and hassle-free. we checked in under 5 minutes. the room was gorgeous and luxurious.
had our best dinner at the hotel restaurant.
special shoutout to mostaque and chef kazi.

If travelling to Kolkata make it the Oberoi

Nothing can match the hospitality and kindness of the Oberoi and it's staff. Coming back off the humid streets was an absolute delight, felt like coming g home. Loved everything about it especially the boutique feel. It's not too big and the attention to you and detail is stupendous. Congrats to the management and particularly the staff, and a special mention to the housekeeping staff. With our two year old they made it a delight for my daughter and us. "Petites attentions" gifts like the mini saree for her and little notes.. special thanks to Priyanka Rana, Zimik and Sagar. Your housekeeping team often in the background is as much a strong leg of your service as any other!
Each day it was like coming home, it better!

Awesome birthday celebration

We celebrate our sons birthday. They made it really special. He was very happy and excited with all the surprises pouring in. Will have to visit soon for another one’s birthday. Everything was good.

It was a very memorable day for him. He really liked the free room upgrade.
