Bindu is the last village on the Indian side bordering Bhutan. There is a conjunction of three streams at Bindu, that originates from some lake in Sikkim.This dam also acts as a bridge for crossing over to Bhutan.
Natural beauty in abundance, but nothing much to see..

Bindu Dam is situated on the Indo-Bhutan border and constructed across the Jaldhaka River.
One of the oldest dams in Darjeeling, Bindu Dam is located in Bindu, a small village located on the banks of Jaldhaka River. Situated at an elevation of 2000 ft and surrounded by dense forests and mountains, Bindu is also considered to be a favourite picnic spot.
The dam controls the water to the first hydroelectric project in India, Jaldhaka Hydel Project situated at Jhalong.
One can walk over the dam to the adjacent forest area which is a popular destination for trekking and hiking. The dam is also used as a foot bridge to reach Bhutan from where one can get a magnificent view of the Himalayan ranges there.
Bindu Dam is a treasure trove of many bird species as well and visited by many bird watchers.

A small picturesque hill village on the Indo-Bhutan border, Bindu is a lesser known tourist destination in the lower Kalimpong foothills.
The small town can be used as a base for several short treks in the lower Kalimpong hills. The most popular one starts from Todey to Tangta and leads towards Nerora Valley National Park.
The area around is famous for cardamom plantation. Apart from agricultural plantations, intercropping inside forest is also common. The kingdom of Bhutan is just on the other side of Jaldhaka river. There is no restriction for locals to cross boarder and villagers from nearby Bhutanese area can be seen visiting the local market to buy essentials.
The principal attraction of the place is its natural beauty. At an altitude of about 800 meters, Bindu is a low altitude hill station. Local people and their culture, forests, river, the Jaldhaka dam nearby makes this place an ideal sojourn for the city dweller

Bindu is a very small, peaceful village in district Darjeeling in Bhutan border. The valley and the riverside will make you forget all the tension and stress of a busy life. It's a real pleasure to relax beside river jaldhaka for a day, and looking at the dense forest of Bhutanon the other side of the river. The route from Mal bazar (New Mal Junction is the nearest rail station) through chilapata forest is a great experience by itself. As there is only 1 hotel (with basic amenities only, no AC room or Well maintained restaurant) Paren (7-8 km from Bindu) can be a better option to Stay.
If you want to visit the Hydel project in Bindu don't forget to collect a permission from the jaldhaka project office at paren.
