Ramada by Wyndham Darjeeling scored for us on 5 counts.
1. Fantastic location. It is at a stone's throw from Darjeeling's famous Mall Road and offers a superb view of the Kanchenjunga. In November, the sunrise was spectacular. You can also see the Clock Tower at the other end and listen to the reassuring gongs on the half and full hours. Glenary's and Keventer's are a few metres away.
2. Enormous breakfast
Delicious fare catering to vegetarians, non vegetarians and vegans.
3. Exceptional service
Every member of the staff will enquire if you have everything you need. Requests are attended to promptly. The staff speak English, so it is easy to communicate.
4. Lift. Those of you who've visited Darjeeling earlier will know what a great bonus this is. No climbing up and down between floors, and to the street. This is especially helpful for senior citizens and the differently abled.
5. Large and very well appointed room. The room we stayed in had a large platform by the wall, which was very convenient to keep all our luggage on. The king-size bed was comfy. The tea-coffee maker tray was sufficiently stocked. The toiletries in the bathroom were of good quality. The room had an iron table with an iron. The wifi worked.
A few things which could have been better.

A few things which could have been better.
- their entrance is through their parking, and a very busy road. Hence the entire frontal facade is ruined (quickly corrected as you enter the warm lobby)
- the rooms are not sound proof. You can hear dogs barking from the street below, the honking of cars heading to Tiger Hill, TV playing in the adjacent room
- from sometime in the evening through the night, the room heating is centrally controlled. So the "Cool" option disappears from the AC control in the room. We found the temperatures too warm, so had to turn the AC off. This was distinctly uncomfortable
- lunch and dinner prices looked steep. Also, they had just a printout in place of a menu card. In any case, there were so many food options outside, we didn't need to eat at the hotel. Except the breakfast, which as I have mentioned earlier, is just fabulous
- the Travel Desk was helpful but pricey. Nonetheless we opted for their car because of the security factor
- the laundry prices were steep, but we used the in-room iron to press our clothes.
All in all, we loved Ramada by Wyndham at Darjeeling. Will certainly stay again.
