Located at H.D. Lama Road, Darjeeling which is the most crowded and inaccessible area of Darjeeling. My taxi driver refused to drop me at the hotel saying that the area is always jammed. I had to hire a porter for carrying my luggage and walked on foot for one km to reach the hotel. The area is horrible with a number of small/medium hotels crammed into a small lane.
The thin lane is lined with private vehicles/cars, tata-sumos waiting to be hired for sightseeing.
The hotel itself also has very little free space inside and has only one restaurant which is occasionally booked for group parties and not available for resident guests.
There are no scenic views from the windows except those of tall buildings under construction. The rooms are OK but the toilet in my room was stinking badly even after repeated cleaning prbably due to defective drainage design.
The food is served generally in the rooms only and is very home-like and also very affordable.
The front desk is very eager to book your sight-seeing tours (obviously for a commission) and would contact you often for that. However I chose to book on my own from numerous travel agents located outside the hotel and got good bargains.
There is no space around the hotel for a peaceful walk and you have to climb up quite a distance to reach the Mall Road.
The prices of Rs. 2500 per night is too high for the quality & location. I would rather suggest the government tourist lodges which are much cheaper and better in facilities.
