“Average hotel in heart of city.”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

stayed in for 3 days and found reasonably good. Very convenient location.
Food is average.
Room service takes long time.
Cleanliness needs improvement.
Need to wait 15 mins prior getting into the room.
Seems like the rooms are being cleaned only after the guests arrive.
Overall not a pleasant experience to cherish.

This really is an awful place. The corridors and foyer smell rank - the kind of smell that stays at the back of your throat; and I've not experienced service as bad as this in an Indian hotel for over ten years. Examples: when I arrived the room safe was still locked with the previous occupant's combination, and well over an hour passed between my request to sort this out and someone arriving. 97 minutes was the record for the time lapse between ordering a bottle of mineral water and its arrival.

The last twelve hours were the crowning glory. Arriving back tired at around 9 pm after a long day's work, I made the mistake of thinking it'd be easiest to eat at their rooftop restaurant. OK it was Saturday night and busy; but after being shown to my table, it took forty minutes for the staff to bring a menu ten yeards - half of which time they were huddled in a group with their backs to me.

I ordered Chicken Tikka and a Naan - which to be fair arrived quickly and tasted fine - but at 3 am I was woken by stomach cramps and violent diarrhoea, which continued through the night and all the following day.

I was due to leave for the airport at 6 on the Sunday evening, and according to their 24 hour chckout system I needed to check out at 3.30. I begged the front of house staff to let me have the room for the 2 1/2 extra hours, explaining my regular need for a loo and to lie down between the frequent visits - I even offered to pay for the extra time, which felt rch considering it was their meal that had started this. They were very surly, saying that it was 'not possible'. I eventually thought I had persuaded them , only to be hectored out of the room at 5.

After fourteen hours of extremely unpleasant food poisoning symptoms I felt too weak to carry my bags downstairs - and of course, front of house took some persuading to send someone up to fetch them ...

But here's the best bit: when settling the bill, even though I wrote THIS MEAL HAS GIVEN ME FOOD POISONING against the item in large letters - they charged me for it.

A truly unique experience, which I hope never to repeat.

Room Tip: Stay away at all costs

When I first arrived, I thought I was at train station and not a hotel as the place was teeming with guests for some wedding. However check in was smooth and fast. The rooms and toilet were clean and well maintained. The absence of ventilation in the toilets gives a musty smell but otherwise no complaints.
The complimentary breakfast is not up to the mark. On the first morning, I had to remind them three times before I got my overcooked egg. Service was attrocious. This improved the next morning. Room service was quick and the food was actually tasty. Obviously the Chef knows to cook but breakfast is seen as "free" and so need not be good.
What I really hated at this place was the "guests" loitering around in the corridors smoking and obviously having consumed too much liquor. An excellent location and good rooms is spoilt by this and the inability to handle the situation when the hotel is heavily booked. With a little bit more effort by the management, this could be an excellent hotel.

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times. It is in a business district of Chennai, which is off the beaten path for tourists, but if you ever need a central hotel in Chennai, this one is very nice and a reasonable price. The rooms are clean and well kept. The management at the front desk sometimes is a little iffy. The bar and restaurant are average, but good. Most of the staff are well mannered and willing to help. The only trouble I have had is with the hotel internet . No one seems to know how to get it to work, so you end up going down the street to the internet cafe and paying much less money. Rs 30 for an hour, the hotel wanted Rs 100 for an hour. Go down the street to the Alsa Mall for the internet and two very nice eaterys. There is also a restaurant on the roof of the hotel which is very nice and romantic if you are so inclined.

Room Tip: Always look at the room before you book, never stay across from the elevator, too noisy. The rooms w...

The property is rated three star I believe. Stayed there for three days on work with colleagues. As soon as you enter the hotel , there is a hevy musty smell in the lobby itself. Waiting at the reception , witnessed an argument with customers.Nice entry? The musty smell continued to the room.Room was decently laid out and was reasonably clean.Towels were not on the second day. Visited the bar (Deep woods),average boozing place.Buffet breakfast at the cofee shop(Brew Bites): Average for taste . When you ask for tea, the bring it COLD. (They did it to me both mornings and to my colleagues coffee). The milk for cornflakes is not kept, you have to ask for it and then it tastes odd! The room service was OK to Good. The checkout was bad, the guy had a long face,no inclination to be even remotely pleasant, and just asked to peremptorily WAIT for a bill. The type who should not be in this industry. The musty smell trailed as I went out and it was a relief to be out in the open air.One good point: The air conditioning was very good and had to be toned down. Helps in Chennai weather.
