While on a business trip to Chennai for around 7 days, I was with my boss who is from Saudi Arabia, and even non-spicy Indian food is spicy for them. However, while on our way to office through the Nungambakkam area, I happened to notice "Mishwar" Restaurant, which means "JOURNEY" In Arabic. Therefore we decided to give it a try!!
It really came as a blessing in disguise!! As marketed by them, they do have a decent list of Arabic cuisine in their menu card, Since I had an Arabic person authenticating the taste, it was even better for me to rate this restaurant honestly, not only considering the taste but the authenticity of the food!!
We order "Laham Meshwi" and "Dahaj Meshwi" where Laham means Mutton (or lamb) and Dahaj means (chicken) and meshwi mean literally a dish made on fire...so basically a grilled or a barbequed preparation. It was served with Hummus and Mayo with Khubuz - a peeta bread similar..... Alas....it was very well cooked with perfect arabic spices. The chicken could have been better coz it was a bit hard and chewy but the laham was great!! Although yes.... it did have a slight Indian Touch...though it was passed with great marks by my colleague!!
We liked it so much that we repeated the restaurant 3 days in a row where we also tried the Samak Meshwi - where Samak meant "Fish", which as per me was the best preparation of all!!! No smell but only classy taste...and it tasted YUMMMM with lemon juice on it!!
Keep it up guys!! Just work on the Chicken a bit more!!
The Staff was very well behaved and welcoming!! The best part is that they had staff how spoke Hindi and english both so it was more comfortable communicating our requirements to them!!
I am definitely going there again when I visit next time and since I am working for A Saudi based company, I shall have many people to recommend this place too!!
