This is the dirtiest and most unkempt beach I have ever had the misfortune to see! The place is full of hawkers and beggars and your "western features" will bring the children out from the shanties with their hands outstretched for money! I was accosted by the young, the elderly and the infirm with pleas for money! I never felt unsafe though my driver was following close in the car in case of trouble! I suppose the only saving grace of the place is the possibility of photographs of people and the fish sellers who certainly had some great specimens of fish and prawns on display (swarming with flies though).
If you have nothing to do for about 25 minutes and fancy to see the worse part of Chennai then take the time to visit, but don’t expect anything like a pristine beach or a moments peace from children, beggars, hawkers and auto drivers plying their trade! If you insist on seeing a beach in the south east of India then take a trip to Fisherman’s Cove!
