“Decent accomodation”
Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights. It's on a relatively quiet street which is a welcome break form the rest of the city. The room was modern, fresh and clean. Breakfast was basic and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Our room on the 2nd floor at the back of the building was quiet.

I stayed in Lotus Hotel, Burkit Road in November 2011 for 2 nights and 3 days. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful in responding promptly to room service and general assistance. There is a menu card in the room and food is reasonably priced, tastes good and served hot. The room offers kettle with tea and coffee sachets, free mineral water and a safe to store valuable items. Close to the hotel, there is a Punjabi Dhaba which also serves good food too.

Travel Suggestions: If you are travelling to the hotel from Chennai Airport, use Prepaid Taxi at Airport which costs Rs 300 (all inclusive), the hotel taxi would cost you Rs 800 (excluding taxes).

First time I just followed Lonely Planet's advise and checked in at Lotus with rather limited expectations. It finally proved a very enjoyable experience. Since then I had to travel to Chennai in two more occasions and Lotus consistently proved that is a little gem.
Chennai is a stereotypically noisy, dirty, chaotic and colorful Indian city. Therefore to survive Chennai you need some hours in a clean, quite, isolated and cool environment. Lotus delivers!
Breakfast was rather uninspiring some time back, however last time I saw some considerable improvement with more choices (especially continental). Idlis remain excellent (not the best in Chennai though...)
Overall a modern, boutique hotel, reasonably priced, with immaculate, clean rooms and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Higher floors are much quieter, as well as room on the back side of the hotel.

I was looking for a hotel in Burkit road, Chennai as i had to catch APTDC bus for Tirupati(tour package) at 5 in the morning from APTDC pick up point in Burkit road. Being new to the city and having my parents with me, wanted an accommodation near by the pick up point. It turned out to be really convenient from that point of view as the hotel is just a minute's walking distance away from the APTDC pick up point. Other than that it was disappointing experience to say the list. It doesn't have its own kitchen and food is arranged from outside. Ordered for the food at 10.30 pm and it was delivered at 12.30 am in the night. The food was pathetic. The service is very poor and takes a lot of time for the bell boys to turn up, they took half an hour to serve even a glass of water. I was informed that some of the staff were on leave and they were facing shortage of staff, hope they have sorted things out. they better do else no one will turn back...Room and bath room were having modern look and were clean also. It had a locker & mini refrigerator also in the room. Overall If i have to go back to Chennai again, will certainly look for another option even if i want to stay in Burkit rd.

I had business visit to chennai from my home town from Pune.I had my wife accompanied. My work hours were from 8.30AM to &7.00PM. We stayed in a suite which was well furnished with coffee / Tea maker, a Fridge, Tables for Lap Top usage. There were two flat Tv sets one in the front room and one in the bedroom. All the white linen were changed everyday. The bath had a nice shower and hot water was available throught the day.
The hotel had a Restaraunt in the ground floor where one can get North Indian food apart from regular Southindian. The brakefast was included in the room rent which was about Rs.4000/-.We stayed for complete month of May2011 and i later repeated in the subsequent business trips. The Br. fast had variety. Hot steaming Idlies were every day and with variety such as vegetablte idli or Kaju Idli or Kanchipuram Idli. Cut fruits Pineapple / Papaya / watermalon were always available.Toaster with butter/ jam, north food such as Parota and Dahi / Curry were at choice. The service rendered was excellant and the boys were at call.

The tables & the floor were clean and there was soft music available.

The item lacking was that there was no TV in the Resturant.

The quantiy served was in excess for a person to consume.

There is Park available close to this hotel; known as GEEVA Park. We enjoyed the morning walk in the hot summer of CHENNAI.For GOD believers there is a Pepal Tree in the centre of the park where GANAPATI's Idols (one big and one smal) are housed. Abhiskekam takes place everday at 6.30 am in the morning with all the mantras.

Thus stay in this hotel makes you feel as though you are from this local area of Chennai.

The clerks were quick to serve you in clearing on Exit.

I saw many Japs & other foreigners were also staying in the hotel.

So i would recomend to others stay here with value for money.

Room Tip: Suites at extreme end are good. Stay on first floor wil avoid need for lift all the time.
