If you're a local, you will love this hotel; everyone else, steer clear.

A grand, opulent building that is extremely let down by the service provided and the staff working there.

The checkin process was particularly slow and painful.

The area around the hotel is desolate and remote, requiring a 25 minute drive to get into town.

As for the hotel, it was completely dead except for the staff.

All the table cloths in the restaurant were filthy, and were not changed despite staff being requested to do so.

Food at the New Years Gala was left sitting out for over 3 hours and when we were allowed to dine, it was all cold. The Gala was a compulsory fee associated with our stay.

Sheet covers in our rooms had food stains on them.

Air conditioning in the rooms was extremely poor, and the nights we spent there were stifling hot. We asked the air cons to be serviced 3 times but this achieved nothing. The windows were inoperable; we ended up leaving our doors open so it wouldn't be stuffy inside.

All the lighting in the rooms is controlled by a singular horrendous control panel. It was excruciating trying to turn on the correct lights in the room.

Internet was extremely overpriced at RS975 plus taxes per device per day, better yet it would drop out/disconnect every 5-10 minutes.

Towards the end of our stay the hotel was devoid of people except for the staff, you could hear a pin drop if it was not for the blaring Christmas music.

The pianist in the main lobby was a nice touch, but did little to help the feeling of emptiness in the hotel, however it was out of tune.

The staff at the reception, particularly the sassy cashier and obnoxious concierge, were particularly unhelpful.

After arranging, through the hotel, a driver to take us to the amber fort, both to whom we specifically specified we wanted to take the elephants up to the top. Instead the driver took us right to the top at the first, avoiding the elephants completely.

When we mentioned to the concierge and cashier, whom we organised our driver through, that we didn't get to experience the elephant ride, the response was "elephant riding is illegal in India." Why weren't we told before when we were booking the driver?!

At our final breakfast, we were greeted by the same filthy tablecloth, with a few added stains from the previous days.

My Guest service team has advised me of the service you received during your stay with us. First and foremost, I want to sincerely apologize for this.

Thank you on your review and on pointing out issues which have influenced your overall impression of your stay with us. We were genuinely astonished to read the details not only on this on- line facility but also on the feedback you have left at our hospitality desk upon your check out. What has happened, why and how on the occasion you have described we cannot say, but we can with certainty assure you that any arrogance or sarcasm you have experienced was not in any way a standard behavior we expect from our staff and that we will take actions to secure such occurrences are not possible ever in future.

We take our guest's comments seriously and discuss them with our employees in detail particularly with heads and employees of a particular department the comments refer to and we always see if there are things we can do better and if there is a way to improve our services. So thank you on pointing out several areas of possible improvements. The experience during your entire stay which you have shared is something that should have not happened. The entire team has been warned and will further be trained in order to avoid such similar embarrassing situations in future.

We are all extremely sorry you left Jaipur with such unfortunate impression on your stay with us and that we were unable to discuss the matter with you in person before check out. Thank you for staying with us and we positively hope to have an opportunity to show ourselves in a better light on some other future occasion to you & your family.

The whole experience at the Shiv Vilas is like you are a Prince in your own palais.
You feel at home and you,re embraced by the warm care of the staff and there employees.
Also in the surroundings of the hotel are very special places like Amber fort an old historic fort from 1650. The city of Jaipur is also worth a vist ofcourse.

We had a great stay at Shiv Vilas Palace resort. Is is very close to Jaipur so you can visit the Pink City and relax afterwards in this luxurious environment; a true palace. It absolutely deserves its 5 stars. The service is perfect and the friendly staff members make you feel at home from the first moment on. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable, the pool is very nice with nice corners and tables to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are several restaurants and the food (both Western and Indian) is very good. The styling of the hotel is elegant and beautiful. Also good for business meetings but we were on a holiday which we enjoyed it a lot. Will be back!

Room Tip: Some rooms are connected to balconies that have a view on the pool and the surrounding landscape. We loved it to sit there at night.

We have spent 3 nights in Shiv Vilas from Oct 22nd to Oct 25th, 2015. The kind of hospitality and the treatment that has been showered on us was truly remarkable.

Every person greets you with a great natural smile that reflects the true essence of “Rajasthani Culture”. This quintessential feeling is so classically imbibed in every staff that you truly feel flattered.
The lavishness of the property and architectural surroundings was magnified by the palatial treatment and hospitality of the entire staff. I would like to specially mention Mr. Joydeep, who was personally involved by taking care of every small query of ours to provide the ultimate comfort level. Whatever we asked, he has arranged within minutes alongwith his sheer opulent smile. A very big THANKS to him. Alongwith Mr. Joydeep, I would also like to mention Mr. Ankur at reception, who has gone out of his way to make a special dinner arrangement for us beside the pool.

The affluent behavior of Mr. Joydeep combined with the other small things which have created staying in Shiv Vilas, a SUMPTUOUS EXPERIENCE - whether it is the Breakfast, or the Spa or the pool surroundings, everything was magnificent and provided a sheer aura of excellence. Don’t miss the pool area and central lobby which has been crafted like an hour glass figure of opulence. Though we have stayed in Elegant rooms but suites are extremely breathtaking and have been soaked in the utmost luxury.
That majestic moment, when you enter this palace cum hotel, Shiv Vilas truly reflects the indispensable aura of Jaipur City and its traditional royal architecture. Pls don’t miss the luxurious setting of “Dinner by the Pool” – where traditional live music meets the lavishly decorated dinner table beside the subtle and splendid pool. This dining experience will fix this moment in your memories to cherish for your entire lifetime.

It was truly a splendid luxurious experience with the most sublime behavior of every person around.

Will definitely come to stay again and to meet Mr. Joydeep :)

It was a nice experience being here. Its a beautiful palace cum hotel. Everything is excellent from food to all kind of amenities. The architecture here gives you the experience of a king's palace. In short Royal feel !!
