This was a great hotel with a very friendly staff. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom had a great shower and was clean. The restaurant was nice with a lot of food. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The hotel was small but very safe.

We stayed at Dera Rawatsar on 11th and 12th May 2012. It was a wonderful experience to stay here. It is a very beautiful hotel with ethnic looks and architecture We were warmly welcomed at the wee hours of 11th May. Also, the staff was extremely courteous and rendered good hospitality. We also had a hassle free journey to Pushkar in the Hotel's cab. The food is extremely delicious. We were served good hot food at the time we demanded.

Overall, it was a unique and a great experience to be at Dera Rawatsar. We will surely stay here the next time we are in Jaipur and recommend others to do so.

Room Tip: Super Deluxe rooms upstairs in the backyard or in front(facing the garden) are better.

...as noted in another recent review, one of the staff needs to go back to "hospitality industry" school and learn how to speak to guests!!

The booking experience was great, with Miss Mandvhi responding quickly to enquiries about rooms. Upon arrival, had choice of two rooms--one an upstairs corner room by the upper reception room; the other downstairs, next to the kitchen. Both were lovely and furnished beautifully; I chose the upper room for its spaciousness and brightness.

The room was spotlessly clean, the furniture charming, the bathroom large with a big enclosed shower. Everything about the bedroom and bathroom was perfect. And getting a cup of gingery chai as the check-in paper work was done, was a great way to start the day after an uncomfortable overnight train ride from the Punjab.

The pool was sparkling clean and the outside lawn area (where you can dine in warmer weather) was attractive.

Food was just ok--the first night's diner was good, but some of the dishes the next night were leftovers. At approximately $10/per person, it was not great value, but is convenient if you don't want to go out, and the little dining room has a nice atmosphere. Breakfasts (include in room price) were pretty minimal and not very tasty. There were greasy veggie patties. I'd recommend sticking to toast and jam and chai.

Speaking of dinner...this is where I had an encouter that left a bad taste in my mouth about the entire place. Unfortunately, one bad apple spoils the harvest.

I prepaid for two nights room, and didn't want extra bills upon check out. So after dinner the first night, I paid cash for the meal. The man took the money, writing the amount in a large ledger book at the reception desk.

Next evening, while in thesmall computer room, the staff member who'd checked me in the previous day, asked, "Madam did you pay for dinner last night?" I replied yes, told him to whom I'd paid it, asked him to check and let me know if the matter was settled. He didn't return, but before going to dinner, I checked with him, as well as the man to whom I'd given the rupees. They smiled-- yes, they'd figured it out, and it was taken care of.

End of the matter, right? Wrong!!! While I relaxed at dinner, yet another man came to my table (he was wearing a suit, if that helps ID him) and asked, "How is your dinner?" As I was about to respond, he cut me off and asked curtly,"Did you pay for your dinner last night?"
I told him this was the third or fourth conversation on the subject, including the first one where I paid, and again, yes, I had paid for my dinner the previous night.

I sat for awhile, trying to maintain a calm feeling, then it hit me--his phony enquiry about my dinner, his interruption of a peaceful time that could have waited until after the meal, the evident lack of communication amongst the staff.

In many yrs of traveling and staying at many different places, never have I experienced such a tactless, untimely, unnecessary, let alone redundant, enquiry.

One person like this gives a bad name to a place, and essentially undermines the hard work of others. Dera Rawatsar is good in many ways; too bad one person can cause a negative impression. Would I return? Only after ascertaining that this fellow is not present!!

Room Tip: Get the "super deluxe" room category--rooms are larger. Ask to see room first--the one I h...

It was maybe my 10th stay at this beautiful property.
It is extremely well located esp if you take a train or a Volvo. I would recommend this property to everyone who is looking for a small and cute place to stay. The staff esp Mahinder Singh and Ravinder Jadong were extremely courteous and willing to help as usual. They have another property called fort Barli near Ajmer which i visited a month ago - absolutely beautiful and a relaxing place to be at.

A suggestion to the owners -Anirudh and Mandvi -
I had a major showdown with Ravinder Rathore and was almost about to walk out of the place for the first time in so many visits while checking in. it is so inhospitable to first of all tell your guests that the guest is lying and on top of that when i repeatedly requested him that i am speaking with the other gentleman there (who was being so polite), he kept talking in a loud voice and intervening which gave me an instant headache - it felt like he is just trying to prove a point and will not allow anyone else to be spoken to ... and all this only because i asked him to check the previous records of the bills settled on 19th March when i was there...... had it not been for a meeting i had to attend while i left my mom and aunt there - i would have not tolerated this even for a second.
