We had very good experience, Rly. Stn.pickup facility is very good though its just a stone throw away from stn., everyday complementary buffet breakfast was good, hotel staff was very helpful & co-operative, the only thing that pinched us was when we checked out of Hotel one of the staff came running behind us & asked that a bottle of mineral water is missing from their room's refrigerator, hence, have we used it or not, which was actually not their when we checked in only a cold drink was all we saw in it. They should keep the written record of the things they keep in the room's refrigerator. But above all these small things I strongly recommend to stay in Umaid Mahal.

On the whole this is a very nice hotel. The hotel is amazing to look at inside and out and rooms are clean and comfortable. With regards to the location, it is where most of the other hotels are located which is not in the old city. The downside is that there is not much to walk to. The good side is that it is quiet and peaceful. Also, it is only a short rickshaw ride to the old city. DO NOT TAKE THE CABS AND RICKSHAWS THAT WAIT OUTSIDE THE HOTEL. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF - BADLY! Just start walking away from the hotel and flag down another auto-rick or taxi on one of the main streets. Also, there is another hotel, with a similar name and location to this hotel. Take a card from the lobby to help you with the taxi and rickshaw drivers to make sure you end up at the right hotel. With regards to the A/C, it works well and is not terribly nosy. The staff were friendly and efficient. A breakfast buffet was included in the rate, and was okay, but could have been better. Different offerings each day would help. For dinner, the roof top restaurant is a great pick (albeit a little on the high side with regards to cost but not too high). The restaurant staff is especially friendly and helpful. One annoyance with the hotel - the driver who took me on the tour of the city, which I had arranged through the hotel, kept wanting to stop and take me to stores and shoppes, even after I made it very clear that I did not want to buy anything. I had hoped that by going through the hotel I would avoid the touts and constant pressure to buy something, but to no avail. Be clear to the point of rudeness if you do not want to be steered to a "special shop" with "very good prices." I did spend one afternoon by the pool, which while small, is a pleasant area with four or five lounge chairs set out. On the positive side, I did arrange through the hotel to take an A/C Volvo bus from Jaipur to Agra, and this was reasonably priced and worked very well. Originally, I was going to take the train, but the hotel staff said it would be very difficult if not impossible due to a school holiday so they suggested the A/C bus. Not believing them (everything runs on the commission racket), I went to the train station and spent a couple of hours only to find that what they said was true. The A/C bus was the better option. While not the Ritz Carlton, this is a very nice , well run hotel and I would certainly stay here again.

The pick up facility is good, the Qualty of food in Hotel is good on top floor and basement at reasonable rates. It gives the feeling of Rajasthani traditional style at competitive rates. Suitable for if one can not afford very high rates and interested in old style Hotel. A facility like Gym may be an added attraction A few more books can be added in the Library of the Hotel. LED/LCD can be provided instead of normal flat TV . Over all it a comfortable stay a little away from the normal Hotel facilities.

Had a lovely experience staying at the Umaid Mahal. It's the only hotel in our entire tour of the golden triangle that we felt stress-free. The room, hallways, restaurants all are a feast for the eyes, and give a nice 'haveli' feeling. The rooftop restaurant doesn't have much of a view & neither do the balconies, but who cares? Plenty to see on the walls and ceilings!!
And their prices are pretty unbeatable in Jaipur for this level of comfort.
