The hotel is located at the end of dead end street and surrounded by lovely gardens, all making for a beautifully peaceful setting. The trees are lit up at night and it’s very atmospheric.
I was there with a group and the quality of our rooms varied. None had windows that let in any light. I had a room with two single beds tightly squeezed into a narrow space, making access to the second bed tight. The air conditioning did not work properly and, in any case, was too noisy to put on at night. In some rooms, the showers didn’t work properly. In others, the safes didn’t work. All of the rooms had issues of some kind, leaving us to feel that maintenance was not well looked after.
The pool is small but would have been a lovely respite except for the fact that it looked far from clean. We didn’t see anyone cleaning it the whole time we were there and the surface was always covered in bugs, leaves and a slight film.
The service in the restaurant was very hit and miss. The waiters didn’t seem to know what they doing at times. Getting their attention was difficult and keeping it was even harder. Don’t bother looking at the wine list - whatever you ask for, they just give you the same wine. It also was not possible to charge our meals to our rooms. This led to a very painful process at the end where we had to go and pay bills at the hotel reception, laundry and restaurant separately. Bills had not been collated and so the staff had to search back through piles of paper at the restaurant to find all your orders.
Having said all this, the staff was very friendly, the peaceful location was an oasis and the overall environment is very conducive. But the property needs some care and attention to ensure everything is in working order and to provide more efficient service. And, please, CLEAN THE POOL!
