“Charming but hopelessly amateur”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

It seems the JLF people had a great stay here, but outside a well-planned festival context I would not recommend this pretty, well-located hotel. The staff have the best of intentions but are simply not up to scratch yet. There were plumbing quirks, delays in room cleaning, and some of the worst food and service at any hotel restaurant I've been to. I can only assume that the glowing reviews come from travelers who consider visiting India an adventure. If you paid these prices in Europe, you would expect a professional hotel, but if you are a colonial-nostalgic you are likely to take it all in as part of the atmosphere.

My friend and I spent 5 days at the Diggi Palace in January and loved the experience. We were there for the Jaipur Lit Fest and had a wonderful time. Staff and management were extremely helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food and service were good. Diggi Palace looks very charming and the location is ideal.

Have memories of a perfectly relaxed and laid back holidaying at Diggi Palace. The staff was extremely hospitable. The rooms are spacious and clean. Besides the rooms there is a terrace and a big garden to chill out. It gives you a nice peaceful haveli feel. Breakfast and food was good and served well. The stay overall was comfortable and delightful.

We stayed at the Diggi Palace for the Jaipur Lit Fest, and it was just excellent. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the balconies are perfect for morning tea and post-dinner drinks. The staff did their very best to accommodate all our needs, which is saying something considering they were in the midst of handling a festival. It's conveniently located, the grounds are gorgeous, and it was a brilliant experience.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a balcony.

We stayed at Diggi Palace whilst participating in one of the Wonderful Workshop events. It was mid January and very cold! Little blow heaters were provided and they kept the rooms passably warm but there was no heating in the restaurant which was depressing and freezing! However the rooms were all clean and very comfortable, although the bathrooms were basic with grey looking towels and limited hot water. The hotel feels like an indian palace and the family who own it are rightfully proud of their heritage. If they could just get some new towels, I suggest not white ones, which will turn grey again, and brighten up and heat the dining room, things would be vastly improved. The gardens are very pretty and a delight to sit in away from the bustle of Jaipur. Wilson keeps everything running smoothly and is very helpful.
