We didnt stay at Chokhi Dhaani Resort (too highly priced) but had been there in the evening to experience the rajasthani village atmosphere. And we came out pretty satisfied.

The place is well set-up and gives a feel of a village but somewhere i felt everything was too well organized for a village setup. Had it been more haphazard, it would have been more authentic. You have the boat ride, elephant and camel ride, village magician, fortune teller, some game stalls (i liked the Bulls Eye stall with Bow and arrows), village merchandize stalls (not cheap though), village belles dancing to local rajasthani tunes with pots on head, etc. Someone who has not lived in or seen a village would find it much more appealing than what i felt.

But for me (my wife and son included) the best thing was the dining halls where they serve authentic rajasthani food with a big smile on their faces. This is no ala-carte. All you need to do it sit and the food keeps coming in all shapes, forms and sizes. The treatment is more like a host and a guest. They welcome you wholeheartedly, give water to wash hands and feet, seat you on the floor and serve you food. The typical way its done in indian villages. There are atleast 15 - 20 items on menu and an unending supply of butter milk. Food is served in leafs and liquids in earthern ware. Till you scream at the top of your voice to stop, they keep serving you. Food may or may not be to your taste, as Rajasthani food is a bit bland and on the sweeter side, but the experience will leave you with a pleasing smile on your face. if not for anything else, you should visit Chokhi Dhanni to experience this.

There is a place for Royal Rajasthani Dinner as well, with live traditional music and all, ofcourse at a higher cost. But if you have come all the way to experience a rajasthani village then you better opt for the commoner dining option (sangri (closed room) or Gorband (open air), 2 options) and eat the commoner food in a commoner way.

Surprisingly, the smile was not to been seen elsewhere in the place. Others at different stalls were either blank or showed dis-interest. Start Contrast to the dining experience we had. Honestly, from my real experience of Indian villages that is highly untrue. Villagers are the most amiable people unlike the city-bred like us.

All in all a pleasant memory that will remain etched forever unless they improvise during my next visit there.

Again nice place... Best attaraction of the resort is the village next to the same.... u've loads of things to do there... can easily spend 4-5 hrs in the village resort... things like camel, elephant rides, village tribal dance, magic shows and parrot shows gng on, lots of cultural traditional dances, followed by lovely rajasthani food - absolutely out of the world!! If you are in Jaipur, you must go there. Resort rooms are again traditionally done, very comfortable with all the facilities and decent breakfast in the morning. staff is very humble and welcoming... Worth staying...

The 2 nights @ Chokhi Dhani were one of the happiest moment in my life.

I have difficulty quantifying my experience there, it is a memory I will remember for decades to come... 2 days in my life I'd never wish to forget.

For those who dislike rambling, the pictures below should speak a thousand words,

(1) Jovial Indian village carnival all-in-one
(2) Traditional fanfare of dance, music and simple fun!
(3) Elephant + Camel + Donkey rides!
(4) Astrology, Palmist who speaks perfect English
(5) Grandma making Roti which taste Soooooo authentic that I cannot help but to say "Bahut Accha!"
(6) Traditional Indian village setting
(7) A completely random restaurant name Aarogo Sa! :)

It is such a fun place that I frequently day-dream about it sitting in my office desk...

Can anyone afford to miss Chokhi Dhani? Answer: No.

Room Tip: Rooms farther away from the carnival may be a lot less noisy during the evening. Make sure you ca...

the word chokhi dhani means-a nice small village;this resort has two parts-the residential and the other one is the village itself.i have never stayed there so i would keep my comments reserved about it though i have heard it's not up to the mark.but yes,the village part is amazing and unique.though it's slightly far from the citystill iwould recommend the tourists to have this altogether different experience.the entry fee is little more but it includes the rajasthani food also which is served inside everytime but yes sometimes u have to face long ques for this.the wait is worth for the awesome food .this village is dimly lit all over by lanterns which gives the perfect ambience to it.here u can have the fun ride of camel-cart,bull-carts on payment.u can buy n taste chach, dal pakodis, bhel puri, jal jeera n aam ka pana.the cost is v.low.and then u can sit on cots lying there n have the fun of watching the kalbelia dancers n snake charmers.u may or may not tip them as per ur will.kids can also have fun in many swings over there.u should avoid weekends as they r overcrowded n then u must have plenty of time in hand so that u can enjoy it fully.

Room Tip: v did not stay there.
