Had stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to celebrate the new year. This is a beautiful property located at Tonk road about 20 min drive from the city centre(though by no means out of town). The hotel is an out and out 5 star property withnspacious rooms with good standard fittings. The rooms were well maintained and each room had LED tv and comfy beds. The new year celebrations at the hotel were very good with 3 parties going on separately for families, young couples and kids. I must say I was very impressed. Since we had all our meals included the standard breakfast Lucy and dinner was good, but the gala dinner on new years eve and the brunch next day was exceptional. Very lavish to say the least. Even the staff at the restaurants, housekeeping and room service was very good. The only issue with the hotel was the main reception staff, which I found , needs to be little more polished. Found them to be lacking a bit. They lacked the warmth during check in and on our last day, we decided to extend our stay by 1 day. We called up reception 5 times to ask the last night extension charges, but we always told that they would get back to us, but got no response. So finally feeling uninvited , we checked out. Except for this one odd instance, everything else about the property was just too good. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Royal Orchid was the venue of a 3-day, 2-night team offsite organized from work. While I stayed there for just one night, I must say I was quite impressed with the general ambience, the warmth and efficiency of the staff and the food.

Rooms: 4.5/5
Compact, well-planned rooms - elegantly done! The deluxe one I stayed in had a bathroom with glass walls and would have been ideal for a couple :) Nevertheless, the room had everything you'd need - a study, comfortable bed, television and a lovely bathroom with a walk-in closet (with a iron and ironing board). Two of our colleagues were allotted a lovely plunge pool room on the second floor, and a bunch of us trooped over for an fun after-party.

Location: 5/5
Just 10 minutes from the airport! I'm not sure how far it was from the rest of the city but I was told the local attractions, mainly the Old Pink city, was about 12 km away. For a city dweller, 12 km isn't much of a distance. And in a place like Jaipur, it shouldn't take too long to travel this distance.

Amenities and Banquet options: 4.5/5
While I didn't use most of these, Royal Orchid has all the regular facilities that would be expected for a hotel of this class- fitness center, internet access, laundry service, foreign exchange, etc.

The Salsa Bar is a great place for a party. We had a lovely theme party on the first day. The only downer was the technical glitch with the music. I think they had some issues connecting our laptop with their speakers and that took a while to sort out.

We had the complimentary breakfast at Limelight, the hotel's 24-hour restaurant. A decent fare of Indian and the usual continental breakfast menu options - eggs, sausages, as well as poha, idli, sambhar, vada, chutney. I thought the south Indian food could be better and the poha wasn't bad. The paneer paratha was expectedly yummy!

Lunch was served at Tiger Trail, a restaurant that serves Indian and Mughlai fare. The biryani was great, and so was the moong ka halwa. Of course, there was dal bati churma for the folks that love/ hadn't got the opportunity to taste this Rajasthani delicacy. I also sampled some penne in minced meat sauce - wasn't bad at all! Overall, the buffet spread at breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent - there's something to suit every palate!

Service: 4/5
The service is prompt for most parts. The staff is really helpful. Most are fluent in English, however there is the occasional person who's more comfortable speaking Hindi.

The pickup and drop facility to the airport was most convenient. The cab was clean, the driver really polite and most importantly, not rash! The staff at the reception was really helpful. The only glitch was it took them nearly 25 minutes to send someone over to collect my luggage when I was checking out. They did apologize but considering I had a flight in the next hour, and I just about made it in time to the airport, I was a little peeved!

Our team bonding and training sessions were organized in one of their banquet rooms. Again, the organization was flawless - we had everything we needed and the staff was attentive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Royal Orchid, would definitely go back for a longer trip, this time book a plunge pool room and spend at least one lazy day at the pool, chilling out with family!

Room Tip: If you're with family, ask for the plunge pool room or suite!

An excellent experience at the hotel. The buffet spread at our party was just great. Not one complaint about the food or service. Staff was efficient and helpful. The rooms are very well furnished and spacious. Enjoyed the whole experience at the hotel. A definite value for money.
