“Oasis in the madness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

This stop was mid point of a hectic tend day tour of the Golden Triangle - after the madness of Delhi and Jaipur and before Agra. Couldn't have been timed better. To sit and spend the afternoon in the Indian country, nothing to listen to but birdsong, was idyllic. Individual cottages/huts with "thatched" roofs were basic but did the job although the plumbing was even more basic - BUT adequate. Food good and the staff always had a big smile on their faces - nothing was too much trouble. Bit of a hit and miss affair with the lighting at night but as we were in the Indian countryside in the middle of a thunderstorm it was to be expected. An extra delight was a camel trek on carts through the open countryside, just before sunset. Peaceful and serene. Wonderful. Did expect to get bitten here by mosquitoes as we were very much in the open but surprisingly not a one!
My everlasting memory of this wonderful "campsite" is of the many peacocks sat atop our bungalow roof silhouthetted against the sunset. Doesn't get better than this.

We were a bit nervous about staying in a place described as a camp. This place does not offer five star accommodation but it does offer real character, peace, quiet delightful staff and perfectly acceptable chalets. It is a real treat to see the gardens hear the birds and see all the wild life. Do not go if you want power showers, staff speaking fluent English, and luxury. For instance the power is a bit flaky - the air conditioning a bit noisy but everything is clean and the staff are always smiling.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel if you want a five star luxury experience but do go if you want a really characterf...

Stayed at Geejgarh Village Retreat... and it was a real retreat for a holiday. Heart filled staff on toes to take care of you. The owners, Mr and Mrs Mudgil, to mingle with greatest hospitality. Cozy cottages to stay in. Lovely view of the hill range with encompass the resort with great options for hill trekking. The resort offers you a "Chaat" platter in the evening... unbelievably sumptuous and mouth watering. Organic farm fresh food is served during meals mostly grown at their own organic farm. Visit for this ULTIMATE experience at Geejgarh.

I had planed to visit the 1200 years old Abhaneri stepwell also known as Chand Baoli was in search of good accomodation near by, Geej Garh Village Retreat was like an oasis in the desert it is on the foot hill of a ruiend fort which would have served as an out post tower in the old days as it is very close to Agra Jaipur highway, perfect Rajasthani quite and calm desert backdrop , inside was the lush green lawn and beautiful cottages , from inside it resembles a tent , friendly staff eager to offer you any thing you need before you ask for , delicious continental and rajasthani food , above all it is under the personal supervision of Mrs.Ranjana which made a difference. Walk in guests are not allowed so advance booking is a must

Room Tip: All cottages are equaly good

Our trip to Geejgarh Village Retreat was a very different and unique experience. We enjoyed the village ambience at the resort...the location is very quiet and serene because I guess its unexplored as of now....village dances were nice to watch... and the food was delicious with so much variety...
