“Treat for the Gourmets”

Brilliant affordable food. Dont miss the Lassi and Chat dishes. South Indian dishes such as dosas and uttapams might be of average taste. During proper lunch hours you may find a crowd at this place. We were a group of 3 on a Friday afternoon and had to wait for about 15 minutes before we could get a place to sit. There were a lot of Foreign tourists who were standing besides the lassi counter. We had chola bathura, tomato uttapam and lassi. All of us were full with a net bill of less than 300 rupees.

“makes you sleepy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2012

the small lassi joint is nice. its right oposite niros restaurant on MI road. the lassi is very nice and thick. it makes you feel sleepy after having it. they have maintained the quality over last so many years. lassi with dal ki kachori is a great combination but you will not have any space for lunch after that.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2012

Lassi used to be my lunch in the hot summer in college days from a vendor just around the hostel gates - the best lassi I can remember. I have not found any to equal - till recently, especially in Australia where most lassis, even in some of the better restaurants in Sydney are poor imitations.

After stumbling across the mention of the lassiwala here on tripadvisor, it was on our 'to do' list on our recent visit to Jaipur. After dinner at Niro's, which left us a bit disappointed (and a tad hungry as we had skipped most of our meal), we exited to discover the lassiwala just across. (There were in fact 3 establishments, 2 of them side by side). We chose to go to the right hand side one - board with red background, later discovering that this was the original one). It was a no-nonsense kind of place, basic table and chair, tiny. They also served chole-kulcha and a few other savouries, but lassi is what we were after.

We were a little apprehensive, mainly for our little one, as the lassi was being served in an earthen 'kulhad' and ordered only one to begin with. Wow! It was heavenly - and soon all of us were lapping up on our own sweet lassi! (1 sweet lassi = INR 15)

The only thing we regretted was lack of time to revisit the lassiwala!
