The house and rooms are beautiful and clean, but the positives end there. The neighborhood is nice but far from the center of town, and worst of all, is closed off to incoming traffic at midnight. It would have been nice if the staff had mentioned this. After returning from an Indian classical music concert just after midnight, I had to walk about 30 minutes to get to the guesthouse after taking a cab most of the way. The guard who opens the front gate was asleep, and after he finally let me in, I found half the hotel staff sleeping on the lobby floor in the pitch black. They are obviously not prepared to have guests return even remotely late, and made no effort to warn me about this. I wish I could recommend this place, but instead I feel compelled to warn against it for anyone who has any intentioned of going out at night.

The house is pretty awesome, but it is located along with houses of top government officials, which means fewer rickshaws that you can catch easily from. Harder to travel without a taxi. We thought this place was overpriced for the amenities provided. The rooms in the rear of the building is very basic with some shabby bathroom. Not sure if those rooms are regularly rented out, but if you have a choice, pick a room in the main part of the house. All-in-all, nothing much to rave about.

This princely estate will give you an idea of how the aristocracy lived in India. The dining room is richly decorated and nothing short of spectacular, almost making you wish you’d brought a full-length gown or tuxedo. Step out back and you find a beautiful, peaceful garden where you can relax as you take your afternoon tea. Our room was comfortable and large enough to include a sitting area. The food was good, and the staff attentive and eager to please.
