This place was on my radar for a long time. Finally got a chance to visit when my friend was in Vashi yesterday, Friday evening and we both being Bongs and foodies decided to check this place out for the seafood.
Located in the Regenza by Tunga, first floor, the ground floor of the hotel has the Vegetarian restaurant.
We reached around 8pm and were surprised to see around 6 tables already occupied.
We were seated at a comfortable table with a couch. The seating is quite spacious and the decor pleasing. I was craving for some yummy seafood soup and asked for the Mongolian mixed seafood soup - but changed my order to Paya soup since the former had coconut milk (as informed by our server). I asked him if they could make a seafood soup without coconut milk but he said no! Found that really surprising. My friend ordered a clear chicken soup. Both arrived in around 10 minutes. Tastewise nothing exceptional to write about - clear soup tasted like a clear soup. Paya soup was ok - flavour was good but I've had better. 1 bone piece of mutton was served which had a minuscule amount of mutton on it. Both soups were not piping hot and had turned cold within 5 minutes.
Starters - hari mirch tandoori jhinga - 7 small sized prawns marinated in mint and green chilli masala and cooked in the tandoor. It was good tastewise, prawns were fresh and juicy and thankfully not over done. But i had expected it to be spicier.
We then ordered a chicken caesar salad - chicken tossed with lettuce in the caeser dressing with croutons and garlic. It tasted good but a little bland. A little more lemon juice would've been good. The prawns dum biryani was the star of the meal. It was yummy and so flavourful. The rice was perfectly cooked and so were the prawns. Quantity is enough for 1 and half people :-P requested them to pack the leftover biryani.
The dessert trolley was a surprise. It was wheeled in once we were done with the main course. I went for the hazelnut chocolate mousse - got it packed. Had it at home. Was yummy. But packing was poor.
We got a 10% corporate discount on the bill. Total cost of the meal was around Rs 2300 after discount. We were waited by a lot of waiters and 2 managers - one of them Mr. Reddy. Service was really good. We asked for hot water to drink and the water served to us twice was piping hot :-) and served promptly.
I also inquired about the lunch buffet on weekdays 899 per head - (1 veg and 1 non veg soup, veg and non veg salads, 3 veg 3 non veg - chicken, fish, prawns starters, 5 veg main course, 3 non veg main course - fish, chicken, mutton, non veg biryani, live pasta counter, 2 hot desserts, 4 cold desserts, 2 mocktails) and weekend 999 per head (additional crab dish, live chat counter). Will probably give the lunch buffet a visit soon.
