For a first time visit in this chaotic city, it was certainly a safe haven in the depressing surrounding. For a visit with a concrete target, it was conviniently 15 minutes from the airport (without traffic) but for a tourist seeking to see mumbai's sites, it can be a very long slow ride to the city center, over two hours at traffic time. The hotel similars any 90's 4 star business hotel or convention center you will find in Europe, quite standard, clean, nice pool, small gym, buffet dining room. Staff are very nice even if a bit crowding and you'll always get the feeiling there are three crew members for each guest. Nice bar at the nearby Ramada. Travel outside should be done with a taxi as there are some rundown sheds nearby (nothing manacing though). And very nice green view from the rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for poolside view

Powai in the north east suburbs of the city of Mumbai has seen a lot of development in recent years and much of these have been hotels which dot the peripheries of the lake. One such popular hotel is Residence Hotel and Convention Centre. It is a large property and is convenient for clients using it for conventions and training programs.
The rooms are large and given its location have attractive views. Breakfast is customarily served in the coffee shop on the ground floor. The Buffet lunch is a great attraction and offers value for money with a large choice of continental, chinese and Indian dishes.
The twin swimming pools are kept in good use and for a change one can use the Ramada Hotel which is next door.
Service is unobtrusive and friendly and this hotel is popular with the large floating population in this part of the city. Transport is in the form 'cool cabs' but be prepared to pay more
than the reqular cabs.
The Residence Hotel lives up to its claim to be a home away from home.

Room Tip: Large rooms and good views are generally available on the higher floors.

Initially, I presumed this location is within Renaissance, Powai. Only as we entered the area (which was welcomed by a few slums) did I realise that it is an independent property. The hotel is reasonably new and the rooms are well spaced out. The suite room (that I stayed) was well designed with comfortable beds and clean linne and is fitted with an LCD. Breakfast menu was just about Ok, with few choices for Vegetarians.

Room Tip: None of the rooms have a facing towards the Powai lake, so just keep the curtains closed.
