The Gateway to India is an absolute must see in Mumbai ... or even India! It gets very busy at weekends and in the evenings and when the boats are running to Elephanta Island (where there are temples carved out of caves) and is beautifully lit at night too.

It’s always good to know more about history and Gateway of India is the right place to visit however you can not enter, just see from outside and extremely crowded, be prepared for it.

It is situated just in front of The Taj Hotel and by it's side there's a grand sea ! It is an arch monument & was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911. A good spot with good view all around , gets crowdy during evenings & 1 Shld give a try to street food .

This place never let's me down, whether it be the rich history or the amount if people from different backgrounds. Certainly a must if visiting Mumbai. People are there to take photos for you for a small cost.

The venue was so crowded that our driver could not stop to let us out. Very impressive and an ICON of course - surprisingly clean surroundings.
