After a slight hiccup with our booking via booking.com, quickly sorted by the duty manager, things just got better and better. Cocktail reception around the pool on the first night gave a glimpse into the friendliness and the quality of food that we were to enjoy over the next few days. The food at the Trattoria Italian restaurant was sublime, and the staff run by the quite brilliant maitre d', Siddhesh, were top rate. A lovely surprise, yet to be opened, are little gifts for our 10/11 year old twins left at our room by the charming Keike, who we met at the cocktail reception and gave us loads of tips of what to see during our stay along with some insight into life in cosmopolitan Mumbai. travelling with or without kids, stay here if you can.

Room Tip: With kids opt for a suite!

We were upgraded to a beautiful suite during our 3 night stay in February 2012 and were very impressed with the personal attention at this hotel. It was really hard to believe there are so many rooms considering the number of staff who knew us by name after the first day. Service was simply exceptional. We were also invited to an evening cocktail by the pool and had nice conversations with the hotel manager and staff.

In terms of food - breakfast was excellent and we had a very good dinner at the Konkan Café. We checked out very early so the hotel prepared us a complimentary packed breakfast for the airport.

The only negative point was that the in-room safe was not attached to the inside of the closet, which made it feel insecure – but this was minor.

We would definitely stay here again!

My stay at the Taj President (as all the taxi drivers know it) in Mumbai was spectacular. Perfect in every way. The level of customer service was superior. They accommodated every single request and even greeted me by name on multiple occasions. The location was removed from the main hustle of Colaba, but easily within walking distance or a very short taxi ride to anywhere in South Mumbai.

I can highly recommend this hotel for any leisure or business traveller in Mumbai. The hotel is centrally located and close to nice shopping areas as well as the Gateway of India. Rooms are nice, many of them already modernised. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, and the receptionist had great advice to discover the city. Not to miss out: the hotel bar is one of the "in" bars of the city!
