“Super nice and pricey one-night-stay!”
Reviewed 2 June 2012

The Hilton Mumbai International is located directly at the airport, so it was our very first stop in the middle of the night when arriving in Mumbai. It really does look poor from the outside, but it nearly takes your breath away once you enter the lobby. Everything looks really shiny and clean, especially the polished marble, which you can find not only in the lobby, but also in the rooms. Our room was clean and tidy. Its really similar to other Hilton Hotels and there is for sure everything you need to get a little rest from your tiring journey. We only stayed for one night with breakfast in the morning and I can assure, that there is just everything you need for a perfect international breakfast. In my opinion the hotel is more of a business-trip or one-night-stay location, than one for a longer vacation, but with the super friendly staff definitely worth the price.

Leaving tonight after a 6 night stay. Overall, I'm having a hard time rating this as average as opposed to poor but only because of the cost and the fact that it is billed as a 5 star hotel.

Pros:
- By Hilton standards the rooms are average, at best. By Indian standards, however, they are better than average. Particular highlights are the separate tub/shower and the hard wood floors.
- Staff are generally very friendly.
- Breakfast in the lounge is very good. Be sure and ask for the masala omelet.

Cons:
- The lounge, other than breakfast, is not so good.
- Upon leaving the hotel you are greeted with a strong sewer smell.
- On one day the hot water was shut off for several hours. While maintenance is understandable there really should have been some kind of notification.

This is the only Hilton in this city of 15+ million people. Therefore, if you're an hhonors member, this is your only option,

The Hilton Airport is just next to the Mumbai Airport so it's location is very convient for flights departing early in the morning. The hotel is quite nice and modern. The staff were friendly and helpfull, check-in/out fast. The room was rather middle standard room with enough comfort for short stay. Unfortunatelly the airport pic-up service is not free and is overpriced.

Location-wise, this is a good hotel to stay at if you want to be near the airport. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished and fitted, with ornate decorations and fine attention given to details in public areas. The high ceilings and luxurious furnishings lend it an air of aristocracy. The lounge is a lovely place to relax at the end of the day, though around the pool can be a good choice too if you don't mind the mosquitoes. Check in was a breeze, with no waiting time to speak of. A bowl of fruit greeted me in the room, and it was replenished daily. Bottled water was also generously provided.

Having stayed at several other Hilton properties, I was a little surprised to find that the service standards here did not quite match the others. The staff at the all-day brasserie seemed tired and inattentive, and the buffet food looked just as weary and dried out. The staff on reception reflected the same sense of laissez faire. One I spoke to was not very forthcoming when I asked her to help me with a query, nor did she attempt to try to help me find out after she admitted that she didn't know. While the entrance to the hotel is undoubtedly grand and impressive, it's disappointing to be let down by the less than enthusiastic service.

The room itself was fairly well maintained, although I did note a large water stain in the wood of the doorway between the bathroom and the rest of the room. If left unchecked, it could attract mold, and I strongly suggest management take a look at this. As for housekeeping, they did a decent job of it, although there was one day where they left a wipecloth lying on the table under the TV, as though they were called away in the middle of wiping the table and forgot to retrieve it. The bedding was comfortable as always, and I slept well every night.

It wasn't my best experience at a Hilton, but I hope management will take these comments in the right spirit, to pinpoint areas in which they can improve on an already good product.

Dear TravelingGlutton,

Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay at Hilton Mumbai International Airport.

While it is nice to know that you liked the hotel interior, the room was comfortable and that your check-in was smooth, I am disappointed that our service shortfall could not complete your overall stay experience. We truly appreciate your constructive feedback and will certainly work hard to improve and uphold our service standards.

Thank you also for bringing to our attention the water stain at the bathroom doorway, which my Engineering team will address and take steps to rectify.

It was a pleasure having you stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Your sincerely,

We had one night here on our way out of India, after a great holiday. After our flight and long trip from the domestic airport (it's not far, but something got lost in translation with the taxi driver and he initially took us to the international terminal instead of the hotel) we were very pleased to arrive. The hotel gave a good impression from beginning - the reception and ground floor area were beautifully decorated and service was good.
Thanks to my husbands Hilton status we received an upgrade and were able to use the Lounge. And I'm glad we were. The Lounge had a mini-buffet of delicious snack food (enough for us to take this as dinner) as well as complimentary wine. However this wasn't the highlight - this was the very welcoming staff and the upmarket Hindu wedding in the garden of the hotel next door. As we were the only guests we and the staff gathered around the window to watch the fireworks, colourful guests and the groom arrive on a horse. Australian weddings rarely look like this. The staff took the time to explain what was happening and seemed to enjoy the bird's eye view as much as we did.
When we finally returned to the small but opulent room we felt like we'd had a good night out without leaving the hotel.
On a more pragmatic basis the room was very clean and comfortable, the bed was good and the bathroom held a good deep bath (which I took full advantage of). The location is also excellent - less than 10 minutes from the International airport. Even without the wedding and lounge access I'd certainly recommend this hotel for anyone in transit.
