“Service with a Smile, everytime!”
Reviewed 26 February 2012

I stayed here from the 19th Feb for 5 nights with 2 colleagues. An excellent hotel with great ammenties, but my overall abiding memory will always be of the excellent ever friendly staff who where plentiful in number and couldnt do more to help. Here is a workforce who have been well trained, obviously enjoy their jobs and always put the customer first.

I had an excellent Lake view room (2404) which was near to the lifts, but far enough away so you couldnt hear the lifts in action. The room was massive, really clean and as soon as I made my way down to breakfast at 09:00, the housekeeping staff were straight into my room. The breakfast was excellent, something for everyone......but we didnt notice they did omlettes until the last morning.....the eggs section of the buffett says, poached, bolied, fried etc...but not omlette?....but the omlette that I did have was really good.

There are loads of well kept ground to stroll around and the pool area was kept in an immacuatate condition.

Most nights we ate in 'Fratellis' - the Italian restaurant, the food was excellent and the service was brillant, after our 2nd meal, the waitors always remembered our drinks order...again another example of excellent customer service.

We were working 14:00-22:00. so spent our mornings by the pool and then went to 'Bombay Express' in the hotel, a sort of posh 'Subway!' to get sandwiches to take to work. The sandwiches were excellent, very fresh.....but the amount of time to make them was far, far too long. So if you plan to do this, I would visit them in the morning and pre-order to pick them up a later time.

There are not many areas outside of the hotel to go for a stroll, but the Concierge desk can phone for an 'auto-rickshaw' (tuk-tuk) to come up from the main gate if you fancy gtting away from the pool for a while. We took one to the Powai 'centre' on the other side of the lake where there are ice-creme parlours, malls, a proper bombay-mix shop etc. The ride took about 15-20mins and was only 40 Rupees (about £0.60!!). Ask to get taken to Dominoes, and then you can safely walk around the whole area. There are loads of auto-rickshaws to take you back, just take a Hotel Business Card with you to show to the driver......or point to the hotel across the lake!

The only thing I found 'strange' about the hotel was that in your mini-bar, along with vodka, gin, coke, water etc there were 2 small bottles of Kingfisher Lager. I drank these after the 1st day and they were never replaced?....the water, coke etc was, but not the beer? Then towards the end of the week, the hotel restaurants ran out of Kingfisher, they did have Kingfisher Ultra though. If a 5* Hotel runs out of one type of beer then why not restock the mini-bar fridges with another brand? Likewise if you haveing problems with a supplier...get another one! I would be interested to hear the management comments about this.

If you are staying in North Mumbai, I would 100% reccommend this hotel and I would love to stay here again!

To the Management I would say,,,get the beer into the mini-bars! AND keep doing everything else the same! You have a wonderful staff who are the friendliest group of people I have come across, so thank-you for a truley wondeful & memorable stay.

Room Tip: ALWAYS ask/pay extra for a Lake View

This hotel is a gem in busy bombay...the location... The service...the restaurents...all you need is there to help during a lovely break from the city rush...
So the hotel is located near the powai lake which is the potable water source for the city of mumbai... From my room i had an awesome view in the lake...with bulls moving around... People fishing with around 6 person squized in a small boat and most surprisingly, an aligator in it.. Yeah...
The rooms are great with large and comfortable beds and a wide scope of channels on tv...
There is an awesome respect from people working there as they always treat you as maharajas... Also a very important point was the high respect for do not disturb sign and privacy by the people working there...
We had breakfast with a tasty watermelon juice... However as i an not so breakfast... Ill leave this part here...
We had lunch at the lake chalet where the buffet was great with a wide range of food from indian to many other dishes...
I had dinner at the fratelli fresh with awesome fresh pasta... Tried the ravioli with nushroom and cheese wwwooww ....
However note that this resto is high classed with gastronomic portion but the service was a little poor...
Afterwards i had to do a room service as i was still hungry and guys do try the cheese cake.. Its an absolute pleasure specially here in india as it is a real cheese cake.. However i miss that small touch of citrus in it but this is my taste...
Furthermore, there is a crew lounge in the 6th floor with people coming to sell stuff to some airline crews ...I manage to get in and saw people selling awesome stuff from leather stuff to cotton...
Last do grab one of those tamarino sweets at the reception desk... They are an absolute pleasure in the mouth...
Surely this hotel make me feel like i am not in india forgetting the rush heat and pollution...

Very professional staff, who help you in organising a convention- I was the conference planner for a Rotary convention with 1300 delegates. It is worthwhile staying at the hotel itself if you are attending a convention.. it saves you traffic hassles. The hotel has everything a business traveller needs to relax, including a good pool and a well equipped gym.
The staff at their restaurants are very attentive; the breakfast buffet has an enormous spread.
During a convention, it may take several hours for your luggage to reach your room; so come dressed to attend the convention in the morning, if you normally stay in Mumbai

Room Tip: If attending the convention, take rooms closer to the convention centre, such as 1548 or 1648

I loved my times at this hotel. Its a perfect place to be, windows looking out over the pond and sometimes you can see the animals there, parrots and cows. The pool is huge and the Mango Lassi just so delicious. Gym is good, Food is perfect, the small cafe bar downstairs serves a good coffee! I want to come back soon

Room Tip: the view out to the lake!
