My husband, aunt, uncle and I did this tour last week (Package # 1 "Half Day Bollywood Tour" 6000 INR/person) and really enjoyed the experience. Mansi was our guide and she picked us up promptly at 10am in a large SUV with A/C and took us to SJ Studios in Andheri. We watched a couple of soap operas being filmed (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Meri Bhabhi), toured several sets and watched a short film on visual effects. We were able to take pictures with actors and take photos and videos on most of the sets. It's definitely more access than you would get on a Hollywood studio tour.

After SJ Studios, we had a nice lunch at an Indian-Thai fusion restaurant called "5 Spice". Following that, we toured the homes of the stars (Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, etc.) in Juhu/Bandra and visited a mini "Walk of Fame" on the Bandra Bandstand. Mansi brought us back to where we were staying by about 6pm.

Couple of things to consider (I'm still rating this experience "Excellent" since these didn't impact me but it could affect other travelers' decisions) -

This is not a tour of Film City - they will take you to a studio in Mumbai where a film may or may not be shooting (it's more likely to see a soap opera being filmed)

Traffic is quite heavy in Mumbai and a significant portion of the day will be spent traveling to Andheri/Bandra and back

Namaste
I was in India a few weeks ago. At the last days, we booked the full day Bollywood tour in Mumbai. It was a great and fun experience. We saw some stars´ homes and visiting two film studios. Our guide was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the Bollywood history. Also, he explained us how certain special effects are made. Thanks for all the pictures Narendra (I remembered your name hahaha)!!!!.
Hope to come back to India soon :)

We booked a full day Bollywood Tour.

First, we visited Bandra, where Bollywod stars live. It was nice. Second, we visited a studio where soap operas are shot. We had the opportunity to watch the filming of an opera soap episode and visit the premises of the studio with the different settings. This was OK as well.

Third we have a lunch in a mall and afterwards we visited a low-quality soap opera studio that was really not worth.

If you think that you are going to see the Bollywood movie industry with a lot of actors and dances, forget about it. You will spend most of the day in Mumbai traffic or visiting fake hospitals for a soap opera.

The guiding was average and the price for what we got was too expensive. Not worth

During my recent visit to Mumbai, I booked a tour with the Bollywood Tour company through my hotel Palladium Hotel. My tour guide, Dipesh, picked me up from my hotel with his car and off we went. The tour was all I expected. We drove to the S J Studios (Andheri East) and Dipesh showed me the whole place, don't think there was a corner we didn't see. We saw a filming for a TV as fell as a segment for a movie. The video showing of VFX effects was interesting. Everyone on set were nice and accomodating to visitors.
After the Studio tour, we drove to the Oberoi mall for lunch and from there to Bandra to view Shahrukh Khan's and few other stars' homes.
Dipesh is very knowledgable about Bollywood movies, the actors and what goes on behind the scenes. I could ask him almost anything about the Indian's movie industry and he would have an answer. His English is excellent. And his driving skills are excellent in the chaotic Mumbai traffic.
I would definitely recommend the Bollywood Tour company and Dipesh as the Tour Guide.

Attendence to shoots of soap opera in little SJ studios, with actors, technicians around. Walk on 3 halls, including one hospital reconstitued. Vfx session of 12 minutes. Nice guide, but program really too short and not at Film studios as expected. And overall begun more than 2 hours in late.
