Last minute decision to book a tour of Mumbai’s most famous slum.

Booking process is simple, and payment can be made online / after the tour is completed.

Our guide Janna was extremely knowledgeable and was always willing to learn more about our backgrounds and share other useful information regarding what to see and do in Mumbai.

For 900 rupees the tour represents excellent value for money. I would suggest that you start the tour at church gate station so that you can experience a ride on one of Mumbai’s infamous trains.

Included within the price is a link for generic photos of the slum, taxi ride back to the station as well as a return train ticket back to church gate station.

In summary this tour is an eye opening experience.

Ps be sure to wear closed shoes as certain sections of the slum is muddy/has puddles.

I did both the Food Street and the Daravhi slum tour. Both were extraordinary. Hitesh was our guide for the street food tour, who was very helpful and nice.
Ganesh guides us through the slum and he also did an amazing job.

I would totally recommend both tours. They give you a glance of real india.

Okay as a spoiled American, I needed this tour of the slum. The same slum they filmed in Slum Dog Millionaire. It was eye-opening. Not in a ooo, look at all the poor people way, but more in wow, look what people can do with so little. yes it is poor. yes the conditions are appalling when compared to western standards. but the people are making it work. All one million of them in a square mile. they have a $650 recycling biz in this one slum from plastics. they create fabulous leather goods. they recycle 5 gallon oil cans and so much more. but they are working and their society is working. not once did my wife and i feel in danger. most of the money from the tour fee went to the school in the slum. our guide was outstanding and grew up there. do this. more of the world needs it.

We were recommended to do this by a friend who has been in Mumbai for over 2 years. It truly deserves the #1 spot. Changes your idea of what a slum is, and how people in slums live. Tour was personal and highly informative, and nothing beats soaking in the sights and sounds of the 5* slum. We went with our 3 years old toddler and it was no problem.
