Thank you Sunni for showing us the life in Dharavi, the industrious people, how the different cultures live and work together. An all round amazing and insightful experience!

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this turned out to be one of the best trips I've had. Got to see so much about how the place functions and the people lived. Always felt safe & well informed.

Our guide of the Dhobi ghats and Dharavi slum was Nilesh - he was excellent and we learnt so much. Highly recommended - don't miss it.
It was my husband's 60th birthday treat and he will never forget it - a fascinating insight into the creativity of the human race.

We found the "Dhuravi Slum" tour to be an unbelievable experience but more from an educational aspect than a tourist "trip". Very professionally run , our guide was excellent in his knowledge, English, presentation and it was satisfying to see that a proportion of the fees earned are fed into the facilities of the slum. We spent 2 hrs walking the slum which in the heat we found adequate, and followed by an excellent lunch had an afternoon tour of the sights of the city.
We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mumbai.

Three of us went on several Reality Tours while in Mumbai, India. The first was a full day tour through Dharvi. Our guide whose name translates into "sun" {I can't remember his Indian name} was extremely informative and had first-hand knowledge about the "slum" since members of his family actually lived there. It was amazing to see how the residents recycled everything from paint cans to plastic. Nilesh Vaidya was our guide for the remainder of the tours that included a transportation tour, food tour and night tour. To food was terrific and we would never have experienced it had it not been on this tour. The ice cream was delicious--we went back a second time. On the night tour we saw young women who had been kidnapped from the villages and made into sex slaves. That was very depressing, but this was a reality tour. We loved taking the train from what was once called Victoria Station. We loved the food and people in Mumbai--no one got sick on the food while on this vacation which included the state of Kerela. Nilesh will always remain a friend. The best part was that 80% of the cost of the tour goes back into the community. The cost of the tours was very reasonable. There were lots of stairs to climb, so I would not recommend the tours {with the exception of the night tour} to those that cannot climb several stairs. There is also a lot of walking involved in the "slum" tour. No provisions whatsoever for handicapped.
