What a joyous place! The ambiance, food and service all topnotch. We visited the restaurant on a Thursday night and the place was buzzing with the sound of happy diners. Our server for the evening, Joshua does the restaurant proud. He was well informed about the dishes, always around when required yet not hovering over us.
We started with the Lobster Roll which was heavenly with every bite. Really balanced out taste with sweet fresh morsels of lobster, creaminess of avocado and a hint of tanginess. The little bread roll on which this all rested, was the piece de resistance of the entire meal. We next had the Grilled Korean Calamari which was perfectly alright with fresh calamari and bits of sweet corn and bacon interspersed. Unfortunately we were still dreaming of the previous dish!
The main course of Mud Crab in Black Pepper was really finger licking good. We had some steamed and some fried mantou buns as accompaniment to the crab. I cant help but wax eloquent about the fried mantou which was soft, fluffy yet crisp! Just yummy!
To top off the amazing dinner, we treated ourselves to the Bailey's Coffee cheesecake. Bastian serves only cheesecakes for dessert but proves the old adage ' if you must do one thing do it really well'. Lovely creaminess, texture of the crumbs, the coffee, the chocolate all comes together in every bite.
The only advice to the team at the restaurant would be to start offering large crabs and the option of smaller portions of the mud crab in shell. One kilo of crab can be a little overwhelming for smaller tables!
