We stayed for 2 nights with our 4 kids and really enjoyed our time with Mark and his lovely wife. The location was a little difficult to find but Mark stayed on the phone with us until we arrived which we appreciated. The house is lovely with fun artifacts and artwork and is one of the few houses we've seen with a nice fenced in yard. Our kids loved playing on the chair swing, playing fetch with the two dogs, and catching fish in their little outdoor pond. The rooms were clean, the breakfast that was served was fantastic, and we were able to do some laundry which we so appreciated. Our only complaint was that the beds were a little hard (very common in India) and there was no A/C, but we were provided with fans which helped. Overall though a wonderful stay!

Stay at Shantih Nilayam if you would like some genuine hospitality from charming hosts who are happy to also point you in the right direction, tell you the right prices, make nice recommendations, and also with a nice garden to while away the afternoon. Made to suit delicious breakfasts are a very nice bonus. Fully appointed kitchen if you care to cook, WiFi, filtered warer, laundry are all provided. Ideally situated for yoga (walking distance to SKPJAYI), supermarket (across the street), trips to town (rickshaw, car or scooty). Very lovely heritage setting.
An all-round wonderful stay. The fabulous garden with its palms and jackfruit tree is a blessing in the heat of Mysore. The lavish breakfasts (ragy porridge, fresh papaya and pomegranate, organic tomatoes, French bread) served al fresco will set you up for the day and satisfy even the most hungry yoga student post-practice. Mark and Stephanie are fonts of knowledge where Mysore is concerned and can always point you in the right direction with restaurant and shopping tips. The doggies are there to keep an eye on everybody and to steal the occasional cuddle. Highly recommended.
