“In the middle of peace”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

Peaceful. This is the word which can best describe the place. The Namdroling monastery is extremely well maintained and the resident monks are very helpful to the tourists.
The main statue of the Buddha is over 40 feet tall and is an awe-inspiring sight indeed. One can just sit in front of the idol and meditate for hours.
Just outside the main temple is a little restaurant where you can also taste very yummy mommos.

“Must visit”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

Bhuddist monestary site you can visit. It falls on the highway if you travelling to coorg. It is also called as khushalnagar

Once you are off the highway and on the way to the golden temple you can see a lot of coloured flags along the road side

The temple is beautiful - no words to define the beauty

If you would like to shop for authentic buddhist articles - this is the place

There are not enough restaurants here which was surpsring as I wanted to taste their authentic food

“Awesome”

Wonderful temple. Go on a weekday when there are less domestic tourists. Was really spoiled by badly behaved children and disrespectful domestic tourists talking loudly in temples and dropping litter. Would have othwise been a haven of Buddhist tranquility.

“A piece of Tibet”
Reviewed 22 June 2012

Every time I head to Coorg I definitely visit the Golden Temple at the Namdroling Monastery nearby. The monastery is a major attraction for people who are interested in Tibetan beliefs, art and philosophy. The premises transforms itself during the annual festivals. This is situated in Bylakuppe near Kushalnagar (you can get a bus to this place if you're travelling by the local transport or drive here). From here you need to head inside towards the Tibetan settlement boasting of a monastery, the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, a Center for Buddhist studies and research, residential quarters for the monks and a little market with some restaurants. The atmosphere in this place is replete with sanctity, discipline and the simplicity of the Buddhist way of life. I would definitely recommend this to travellers who seek to explore it.
