Very well located with a good restaurant and an even better coffee shop. The rooms were comfortable with good views. The lift arrangements mean that it is easy to access the shopping areas or to find taxis to the station or other locations. Although the weather was still cold when we were there, we were told that there was no heating! Luckily we were mostly warm enough as the sun shone into the room. You do need to get a porter to help take your luggage through the crowded car park and up flights of steps before the private lift is reached.

I stayed in hotel combermere between 16 June 12 and 18 June 12 with my family. My experience was not good for following reasons-
1.There was no parking as advertised by them. Even no driver to take your vehicle to a paid parking lot which was about 100 m from hotel. The hotel advertisement of having a valet parking is misleading.
2. I had got booked a higher priced room they call it COMBERMERE luxury on C.P with a view to avoid discomfort in a cheap hotel on general belief that costlier is better. But my dream was shattered. There was no fan serving half of the room where bed was placed. There was a kink in the room. It was not a rectangular room but a hexagonal shape room with no air of fan over half of room area. My request to change the room was not acceded by them. It was hot enough in the evening in Shimla and I had difficulty in sleeping and staying because of No AC and No fan. They told all rooms are alike and there is no AC in any room of this so called four star hotel.
3. Basic toileteries like shaving kit, dental kit in the bath room was missing and they curtly refused to provide the missing ones even on request.
4. There is a big parking lot in front of hotel (not of hotel). Many cars and taxis always occupy it.You cannot take your car to entrance of hotel. You cannot stop on Road also as policeman will immediately ask you to go away as it is a busy thoroughfare. Other public crowd like tourism deptt lift and a temple are also just in front of hotel. Getting into the hotel is a hassle.
5. A car automtic alarm in high pitch disturbed sleep of occupants of hotel for more than an hour at midnight on 17.06.2012. Hotel staff expressed helplessness to locate the car owner and put off the alarm.
6.There are other issues as well. Overall it was a bad experience. It is no more than a budget hotel but showcasing it as a premium hotel.

Hotel Combermere is strategically located at the middle of the town, and adjacent to the Tourism Lift which takes you to the mall road. However, the hotel has its private lift that takes you straight to the most happening part of the Mall. For us, that in itself was the reason to book at Hotel Combermere.

The hotel is hanging on a slope at a height and overlooks a gorgeous sight from all the floors. The see through elevator of the hotel is seen from the main road and its unique construction makes the hotel stand out among the other hotels in the neighborhood.

Combermere is packed with loads of health and fun activities; billiards, table tennis, multi gymnasium with a variety of exercise equipment to name a few. The hotel offers a time of leisure and fun at the discotheque and your stay there will definitely prove to be worthwhile.

The rooms are spacious, clean and adequately furnished with central heating and wall to wall carpet. We stayed in a Suite that had a private terrace, a super relaxing bed, ample of in-room space, a mini bar, LCD with cable television and all you expect from a 4 star hotel. The whole ambience holds a contemporary feel to it. One advice - Avoid rooms opening to the public lift as it compromises on one's privacy.

The multi cuisine restaurant here is called the Seventh Heaven and it serves Indian, Chinese, Thai and Continental Cuisine. The morning breakfast served to us was not the best I’ve had; I wish they served some more verity and taste. Roof top Cafe Sol is a great place to enjoy pizzas, pastas and a wide selection of pastries. The Terrace in front gives a marvelous view and is an ideal place to loosen up and enjoy a meal. The hotel does have a bar too it’s called Cloud9, have not been there but the feedbacks from friends are positive.

Over all… A great Stay at this Hotel

Room Tip: One advice - Avoid rooms opening to the public lift as it compromises on one's privacy.

We were a family of 4 who visited Shimla in April 2012. The hotel is well located to the Mall, Ridge and in the city. It has a lift direct to the Mall Road. The rooms are good and the room service is also very good. Food is expensive if had in the hotel.

Room Tip: Take room overlooking the valley.
