Its a good resort , nice room, good food, excellent decor, but this resort has a party / banquet hall which is given for various functions so if u r looking to have cozy time its tough if there is a function on, when i had visited it had a marriage + DJ and u can hardly hear ur partner in th noise in the room....

else the resort is good

This is a nice hotel, rooms are large and well set out, service is great especially at the restaurant, which had a good selection of Indian and European food at dinner, the breakfast was ok but nothing fantastic, the hotel is not too far from the Shimla mall and is a good starting point for travels to Kufri and Chail.
The only negative was the beds were hard, the mattress did not budge at all when you were laying on the bed

East Bourne is in the Heart of Shimla with a large area to give it a resort feel. The Rooms are really richly done, with all modern comforts. The room size was pleasantly to our surprise very spacious, the bathrooms were clean fitted with all modern gadgets. The staff was very helpful, courteous and made one feel special. The Resturant was very well done up and served great food as part of the package. The trraces and the greenry was simply amazing.Everything about East bourne was great, overall whenever I go to Shimla again would stay here and strongly recommend this property to everybody visiting Shimla.

When you go to Shimla, you can do either of three things. One, you could go stay at any one of the innumerable hotels on the Mall; two, you could head out of Shimla to less commercialized locations. Or you could go stay at the Eastbourne.

This hotel isnt in the middle of the city, and getting to the Mall involves a slightly expensive taxi ride. But would you really want to do what everyone else does? Instead, you get to the terrace in the morning, read the newspaper while the waiter brings you your coffee and croissants. Then you look up and take in a completely unblemished view of the Himalayas. What else would you want?

Beware though. The hotel is made up of a number of wings- each having its own entrance. make sure you get shown to your room and make sure you remember how to get there.

Apart from that, this is a most delightful place to stay. The service is warm and friendly. The rooms are spacious, albeit a little too garishly done up for my taste. The noise is non-existent and the food is good.

One occasion though- left me a little surprised. I arrived in Shimla on an overnight bus from Delhi- which meant that I was in Shimla at 5 am. Unfortunately, in spite of a confirmed reservation, there were no rooms available at 5 am in the morning. Greatly apologetic, the staff put up a makeshift camp-cot in the gym, which I could use till 12 pm, when a room was available.

Bottomline- do give this a try if you'd like to take in the true beauty of the Himalayas.
