It had been some time since we had been planning to go to Shimla as a couple, but some bad fortune always stood by our ways. Luckily on this 2nd anniversary of our’s , we were able to put things in place. We booked a stay, sightseeing package etc from Shimlaroyals.com for their known good rates & hospitality in Shimla & Manali tours & hotel bookings.
We arrived in the late noon after a long day of travelling from delhi. The lovely smell of jasmine filled this old hotel. The hotel building looks its age which we thought added to the charm, it felt like walking into a 1930s English house with very few alterations. . The hotel is on the mall road and the rooms had a great view of the hill side. We stayed there from the 4th to 7th.
This place didn't have any elevator but they will carry your luggage for you. The rooms were old styled with large slant beds, large and spacious. We felt living in an antique type of environment, it was a new experience, a likable one. They are very careful about cleanliness, thank god coz my hubby is a little fussy about these things. Still there was a lapse, the towel had not been changed, it was wet. But they can be given a lifeline for that, got that changed immediately on being asked. Even smoking is not permitted inside the hotel.
The staff was all excellent and friendly. The service was excellent. They left the newspapers daily, both HT and Hindu on our demand. One of the days, we had had to watch a TV show and the channel was not subscribed, they got it done which is generally a hassle as what I have seen in other hotels.
Excellent food, reasonable choice of food, good mix of veg and non veg options in the free complimentary breakfast was nice. Their sandwiches were different and yummy. Great views of shimla, great service and food at very reasonable prices, recommendable place for me.
Also an acknowledgement to Vishal from ShimlaRoyals & our waiter at Clarkes for giving us prompt services.Recommended
