When my office booked this hotel for my stay, I thought its going to terrible considering its managed by government. But everything changed within few hours. The place is really good, on a hillock. The rooms are very spacious and cheap too. The staff is really well mannered and try to cater to all your needs. The food was very good. I got the room with sur rise view. The hotel is in Fagu, about 22kms from Shimla. It tooks us about an hour to reach there. If you want peace for yourself stay here, far from Shimla.

Room Tip: Take room no 303 for sun rise view

This is one place I would recommend all travellers to visit if you are visiting in and around Shimla and want a break from crowdy Shimla in quiter pastures. The hotel is nice and clean with cozy rooms and clean washrooms. Each room is provided with a room heater. Washrooms may be very basic but there is ample provision for 24 hours hot water. The restaurant serves simple Indian food which is close to what all Indians cook at home, nice and light and is an excellent break from fried and spicy food served at other restaurants. The service may be a bit slow but be assured of warm smiles and great hospitality from the restuarant and hotel staff who may even go an extra mile to get you something that is not on the restuarant menu (provided some of their staff is in Shimla at the time you inform them of your need ;)). The view from the hotel is very beautiful and the corridoors have been built to give you holistic view of the scenery outside. All in all a very good experience and great value for money. Would love to get back to this hotel.

Good location, good views, good homely food, slow service at restaurant....sums it up in a quick fashion. Rooms are not extremely luxurious but again are value for money. Forget cards, carry cash.

Room Tip: Just ask for room with view :-)

In this trip, we wished to stay away from Shimla and were split between Naldehra and Fagu. One day before the trip, we decided in favour of Fagu as it seemed to promise better views. Based on the reviews on the net we decided for Apple Blossoms, HPTDC hotel and booked online. For first night, we could get Blossom Suite and other days we could get the Super Deluxe room.

In general I am kind-of skeptical about government properties - the look and feel and the cleanliness aspects, so I arrived with little expectations. But as I reached the hotel, I found the appearance quite welcoming. The location was just terrific. The Blossom Suite was really large and spacious and the sofa chair setting near the long windows was very inviting. There were two comfortable double-beds. The bathroom was large and clean. Hot water was readily available. More than anything else, such lovely views from the room won my heart completely and I could easily ignore small faults like worn-out carpet etc

Because of the rains, the views were not very clear. But on the first day towards the evening, we were lucky to see the snow-clad Kinnaur Kailash range and the churdhar peak. The other two days, rain was on and off and we could catch a glimpse of the kinnaur kailash only before sun-rise around 5 am.

The super deluxe room we got was a corner room (303), it had two windows offering different views and we found it comfortable too.

Food was decent. Though the choice was rather limited, I liked the fact that it was not rich and spicy - we especially enjoyed their chicken curry, cheese tomato, mushroom on toast and the aloo bhaji with the puris.

There is a Ma - Kali temple close-by, bit difficult to reach as there are a lot of steps but still it is worth a visit for the views from up there. We went for short walks around the hotel which took us to apple orchards and we saw a good variety of birds, butterflies and slugs on the way.

Kufri is not far and we went to the zoo which was quite a hit with the kids.

There is no pretence about the place - is does not promise luxury, it is simple, homely and comfortable with beautiful surroundings which are raw, untouched, beautiful and very appealing.

Would definitely like to come back in the month of May for clearer views from the room.

Room Tip: Blossom Suite - best OR Super Deluxe rooms - 303 and 404

After spending two great nights at Chindi HPTDC, we were thoroughly dissapointed with Peach Blossom HPTDC which is now called as Apple Blossom. It was by accident that we discovered this hotel at Fagu. We had booked two double bed deluxe room for one night as we were travelling with parents. We were really dissapointed as the hotel being at such a good location is not at all maintained. Rooms were full of dampness, toilets were in bad shape and unclean.
Staff is not friendly and very slow at service.
Suggestions if planning to stay here
1) Have patience when ordering for food, it takes atleast an hour for hotel folks to prepare. If at all electricity goes you may have to wait even longer.
2) Carry a torch, as electricity keep going and small generator doesn't cover the rooms.
