We were on a 2 day trip to Delhi and selected this restaurant for it's iconic stature and reviews on TripAdvisor. We got there early for dinner to avoid the waiting time as the place generally gets full by 8:30-9 pm. While the one wall is plastered with awards, we didn't have the experience that felt that this restaurant continues to deserve the awards. For starters we wanted to have the famous Galouti Kebabs but the waiter recommended another dish which turned up cold and not very appetizing and were left disappointed. So we ordered the Galouti kebab and were told it will take 20 mins. When it arrived, it was melt-in-your-mouth smooth and we wondered why didn't they just take it as our first choice. The next starter was malai (cream)chicken on skewers which was also good for it's novelty of being served in a small metal bucket with smoke emanating from it. For main course, we ordered their famous butter chicken with tandoori roti. It was just fine and didn't wow us. Dessert was Gulab jamun which was standard fare. Loved their Ginger Lemon fizzy ale. Bill for 3 of us was inr 4,500/- which I felt was a tad expensive. They have a problem with credit card POS and it took 2 swipes that did not work on the POS unit and I finally had to go to their counter to pay. at the end of their meal, they give you a TripAdvisor card asking to be rated. All in all, just average and decent dining experience but the restaurant certainly did not live up to it's reputation...it isn't even trying.
