“Unexpected and original pleasure”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

You go to this place a little by random, because you feel interested in Gandhi's life and ideas. You have a walk in the garden, where you see the place this great man died, and have a look to a quite boring outdoor exhibition. Well.
But then you enter the building and realize how complete is the museum, downstairs you can see the room were Gandhi was living and receiving friends, some objects from him, you can see a video about his life and read many various informations and quotes. It's a nice time to spend there. There is also a room with a resume of the important facts of his life by the way of figures (like the french santon) I thoight the unexpected part was upstairs. Here is one of the most modern and creative museums in India, An interactive and ludic museum, full of machines, sounds, colors, lights, videos. You learn a little, and enjoy a lot, like a child. Try to escape a little bit from the guides to try the installations by yourself. I spend really good moments there. It's pleasant to see something different and original, a good way to make the culture more open and playful. Do not miss it!

I was so moved by their display of Ghandi's last footsteps before he was assassinated in 1948.

“good place to visit”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

This is the site of Ghandi's assassination - they've marked out the spot, and it's on the same grounds where he lived during the last years of his life. There is a very long arcade where the history of the India Mutiny (1857) is laid out in narrative and drawings/photos pasted on billboards, and takes you up to the time of the departure of the Brits and Independence, including the partition. It would take quite a while to read it all but even just skimming over it is highly informative.
