We stayed in the Shangri-La twice, at the start and the end of our tour through the Golden Triangle. The location was perfect for exploring Delhi - very near to Connaught Place, in walking distance to metro station, in close distance to most of the sights and still in a very quiet location.
We had booked a Superior double room and were lucky to have found a very good rate via a booking site. However, now having been there, we would also have paid more. The room was very comfortablr and quite spacious, the bed very cosy. The breakfast was amazing, everything you could wish for in terms of variety, quality of food and level of service.
The service in general was really exceptional - everybody was extremely helpful and friendly. After having stayed ony one night here and then coming back after a week again, we were really impressed that everybody recognized us immediately!
Also appreciated a lot that we could get a room already at 8 in the morning after arriving from a night train and could get a late check-out (3pm) the day after with no extra charge. After that, we were still able to use the pool and spa area until we left for our night flight.
Only thing is that the style is maybe a bit old-fashioned, but that is truly a matter of taste :)

Here is the link among many others about a case of food poisoning reported from this hotel
http://www.indianexpress.com/news/shangrila-food-sickens-81-staffers/970477/.
This happened during first week of July 12.
I am not tempted to visit the restaurant despite the fact that guests were not affected by food poisoning.

Very good hotel in terms of ambience, location and service. Slightly dated rooms but nice restaurant and coffee shop. However, the prices were ridiculously high - even for a cup of tea or water at the coffee shop. And Rs 800 for a slice of cake or Tiramisu. Apart from this, I couldnt fault this hotel for a very efficient and trained staff. Excellent breakfast and the free WIFI was very welcome.

Room Tip: Go for the Junior Suites
