“Small, low key but very interesting museum if you have more than few days in delhi”

When escaping the bustle of Delhi life or on a longer or repeat stay to delhi, Sanskriti is a small museum but a hidden gem of large terracotta animals, and an interesting musuem with items from different historical periods and regions of india. There is a nice textile section and sections with artifacts behind glass.
you can also just sit in the shady gardens by the lotus pools and chill before getting back on the hectic MG road back to central or south delhi!

“Truly a Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2011

This is a wonderful, utterly delightful museum set in park like grounds on the outskirts of Delhi. The good news is that it is close to a Metro Station.

This museum is broken up into pavillions. One pavillion is about everyday utensils, terracotta works, fabric, etc. There was no entrance charge. The presentations and display work is the best in Delhi, especially compared to the dismal National Museum. If you are "new" to India this would be an ideal low key, clean, and quiet introduction.

The grounds would be perfect for a picnic. The trees are full of birds. The museum is a great opportunity to get away from the crowds. The day I was there we were the only two people visiting.

If you're staying in Gurgaon this is probably an ideal short excursion. I didn't have my hotel pack a lunch, but the driver recommended the Grand Hotel about 3 miles away, where we had a terrific lunch.
