“huge mosque”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

the mosque itself has nothing to offer; it is like any other mosque that you'll see with a bit of mughal empire architecture. what i like is the bazaar outside of the mosque- there are vendors selling briyanis, bbq beef/mutton stews that tasted excellent.

“Place with Historic Touch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

Jama Masjid of Delhi is the largest mosque in India. The Jama Masjid stands across the road in front of the Red Fort. Built between 1644 and 1658, Jama Masjid is one of the last architectural works of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The spacious courtyard of the Jama Masjid holds thousands of faithful. Originally called the Masjid-i-Jahan-Numa, or "mosque commanding view of the world", the Jama Masjid stands at the center of the erstwhile capital city of the Mughals, Shahjahanbad.
The view of the mosque is imposing in Red Sandstone and the place surrounding has developed into a little township with its own character. There are various eateries around selling mughlai and non-veg. "Karims" among them is famous for its Biryani in one of the bylanes near South Gate of Jama Masjid. There are many roadside stalls of Biryani where people throng for a taste.
Nearby Chandni Chowk also is full with history and old flavour of Delhi. A very interesting area for a day long walk. Great photo opportunities around.
To enter inside Jama Masjid there is no entry fee, however, for cameras they are charging Rs.200 which is very high and only place in India charging for camera for entry into a monument.

“Nice Mosque”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2012

I like it too much, it's huge and beautiful. it situated in old Delhi. Inside the mosque is really clean and when we were there they spread the carpets for praying and it's exciting. It has also good view of some part of Delhi like red fort.
