Owner description: This tomb, built in 1570, is of particular cultural significance as it was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It inspired several major architectural innovations, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal and many other Mughal architecture and garden complexes in India.

This was VERY interesting to visit. Beautiful and can see the restoration effort to keep clean and nice. There are some steep steps and could be tough for some. Not too many steps 10-15 but steep and hand rails are limited. Grounds are beautiful to walk around. Really worth the visit

worth the visit. Very beautiful. I am glad I went here before visiting Taj Mahal. I walked so I found it hard to find but if you are a good bargainer, rickshaws will take you and even wait.

People revel at its similarity to its much-acclaimed successor, the Taj Mahal, but Humayun's Tomb finds a place in my heart because it exudes a level of gentle humility; its an emperor's tomb, but doesn't dazzle you with its opulence - it brings about a degree of serenity which balances the the fiercely competitive world that flows around it!

It was the predecessor to the Taj Mahal, well worth a visit

Because this monument has water in the channels, a person can see how cleverly Mogul engineers stretched the water in a dry land. And the tomb had a long life--the Mogul emperor at the time of the Mutiny (1857) was found hiding here.
