“Flawless service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

This hotel never fails to live up to the high standards it sets itself. The staff bend over backwards to be helpful and are wonderfully charming and engaging. The food was delicious and the location is perfect for business meetings, sight seeing or shopping.

I booked directly on the web site and received a true deal. So I was expecting that something was wrong or they would up charge me with lots of fees. Nope, the weekend deal was real and the hotel surreal. Ok, it was not the best 5 star I have ever stayed, but it certainly was 5 star in all my expectations and services. One of the good tests of that extra quality is the hand cream given as part of the toiletry and I can tell you that the tickness of the cream exuded luxury. Don't hesitate in booking. The ITC is a good hotel also where my friend stayed, and I would be perfectly fine with either.

This is an amazing hotel to stay in from all accounts-- location, facilities, staff, food, amenities, etc. It is really top class. The one major suggestion would be for them to use less air sprays to "clean the air."

You must try the Spa-- most rewarding massages. However, the facilities are almost always booked to capacity. I have mixed views on the Indian restaurant Vark -- sometimes seems too pretentious. However, their palette cleaners are more interesting to see than to eat; you will know when you see it. Do try the Parsi Kulfi at Machan-- absolutely fatty but delicious as sin.

The gym is decent but seemed a little cramped and crowded at busy times in the morning and evening. The trainer there is very pleasant and happy to help.

The guards manning the lift are so smart to understand which floor you are in after the first time. They not only keep the lift door for you but also press the right button. That's talent!

If you are visiting the Qutb Minar, you must see the ruins of the Hindu temple that was destroyed to build the structure. The sculpture on the ruined temple surrounding the interesting but featureless Minar is most intriguing. It narrates a story of the life in Delhi before the arrival of hordes from the West. Interestingly, similar sculpture is found several thousand kilometers away in the South at Darasuram in Tamizh Naadu.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the greenery. You will love it in the mornings.

Going to Delhi means staying at the Taj. For me being Delhi one of the gates to India i truly enjoy staying at the Taj. It gives me a view of the magnificence to enjoy and yet at the same time i am inmersed in the center of Delhi. The rooms have the perfect temperature, the beds have the perfect fit. The staff makes you feel that they are there to make your stay perfect. Your wish is instantly fullfilled and yet at the same time there is a sense of feeling like family, each member of the staff rememebers you and your likes or dislikes almost guessing for the things you ask. During my last stay i was regarded with an incredible tea recipe for caugh that made me feel well instantly. The staff at the spa treats you like royalty and you come out as a new person. Breakfast is always full of suprises and room service is no doubt superb not only in food but presentation. My dear friend arrived late on the first day and our in room dinning has been one of our most memorable experiences.

We stay at this magnificent hotel when we are in Delhi. The staff, from the wonderfully attired Sikh doormen, the management, the skilful Spa personnel, your private butlers are, without exception, the most professional and welcoming I have experienced. The hotel itself is a perfect blend of colonial luxury and modern facilities. The rooms are beautifully designed and luxuriously furnished. Fresh flowers, fruit and chocolates are discretely placed for you each day. Wall to wall windows give breathtaking views of Delhi and of the gorgeous swimming pool and gardens. The breakfast, served in ' Machan' is stupendous - an endless buffet of exquisite fresh delights. The dinner menu is also a gastronomic indulgence The Japanese restaurant serves the best Sushi & Sashimi I have tasted outside of Japan. The staff pride themselves on delivering the best service - the elevator attendants remember our names every visit !!! This hotel is a favourite of the monied Delhites but does not have a pretentious air. No ostentatiousness, just subdued elegance and 'happy' atmosphere. A little orchid and a verse of intoxicating poetry awaits you on your silken pillow each night...... What more can I say ?

Room Tip: 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor rooms facing pool or city are superb.
