“Exceptional service; Very accommodating staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2012

The ITC Maurya Hotel is located at the Diplomatic Enclave in New Delhi, India. Thus, it is close to a lot of embassies there. Location-wise, I think it is not very convenient for a tourist since it is not a walking distance to New Delhi's main historic sights nor the shopping districts. One would have to take an organized tour, a taxi, or a local tricycle to get to these. Nonetheless, the Diplomatic Enclave area is one of the cleanest and more quiet areas in New Delhi. The Maurya hotel is located along an avenue with rows of beautiful flowers, so it is nice to take a walk or a jog there.

As to the hotel itself, the painting of exterior walls of the hotel are kind of worn out already so I think these need a repainting. The security in the hotel is very strict, as people have to have their bags/baggages checked everytime they go inside the hotel. The hotel lobby is also very nice with its high ceiling painted with Mauryan art. I also found the hotel staff friendly and very accommodating. There is a part of the hotel, i.e., the Towers, which has a separate lobby for guests staying at the Towers. The hotel restaurant where they serve breakfast could get very full during breakfast such that guests who could no longer be accommodated are asked to have breakfast in one of the hotel's restaurants in an upper floor, which restaurant, though boasting a commanding view of the hotel's nearby areas, does not serve a wide-variety choice of breakfast.

The room we got at the hotel (at the Towers section) was nicely decorated although I found it relatively small compared to other five-star hotel rooms. So I think the price of the room was overpriced in terms of the room size. But as to the service and room amenities, the price is worth it. I also liked the shower area of the bathroom, which has a circular enclosure, mosaic style-tile design and a rain-like shower spout. I also liked the hotel's toiletry line brand (Fiama di Wills). The butler was nice and catered even to our minute needs.

All in all, I was very happy with the service that I had in this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the Towers section, if you want an upgraded room in this hotel.

Many five stars in India are overpriced due to the lack in supply. This hotel is no exception. Yes, it is a nice hotel and it lives up to your expectations; super clean, very spacious room (I like the walk-in closet). But it is very expensive and not personal, in fact the staff strives to deliver good service, but the personal touch that I know from the ITC Grand Central in Mumbai lacks, this is more a 'perfect factory'. Nicely decorated and the Golf Bar has very nice (expensive) snacks and a good smokers cabin to smoke your sigar!

The Maurya and I seem to have a love-hate relationship! During my earlier stays, I have had issues with service, with amenities in the room not working etc. In fact, i had to bring some of those issues up to the attention of the GM of the hotel. My last stay about 7 months back was pretty bad and I decided to give the hotel a break for a while.

This time around, all was well! I was upgraded to an ITC One room (which is what I prefer most) and everything was tip-top. Room service, house-keeping etc - no complaints. The rooms were very clean with plenty of amenities.

The Maurya has been referred to as an icon in Delhi as far as the hospitality industry goes and I am glad to note that they are maintaining their reputation.

Room Tip: I like the ITC one rooms the best, preferably pool-facing

I stayed here for business back in December 2011, and was very satisfied. The room was beautiful, and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit far from the attractions, but they have a car service special for whole day for roughly $80 USD. My driver was Raju, mobile [--], and I cannot say enough nice things about his service. By far the best way to see Delhi during a short visit.

If you need a car for less than an entire day or just a one way trip the hotel service is a bit expensive, so opt for a local cab. The hotel called a radio taxi, Mr Vijay, [--]. Mr Vijay was polite, personable and the vehicle modern, clean and air conditioned. Again, I would recommend his services.

I would whole heartedly recommend a stay at the ITC Mauyra

We stayed at the ITC Maurya for 3 nights in January 2012- and we were very impressed with the attention to detail, service, cleanliness of the property, and food.

We stayed in a beautiful room in the Towers- with a private concierge desk there was always someone there to help/answer questions. The amenities were great- and the rain shower was a great surprise.

We dined at the breakfast buffet which had everything...the Masala Dosa and fresh fruit were my favorites. This was probably one of the best breakfast spreads I've seen in a hotel anywhere. The decor is very nice, but the hotel is definitely not intimate.

The only downside is that the property is a bit out of the way since it's in the Diplomatic Enclave- but that didn't matter since we had a tour guide with a driver.

We'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to the Towers!
