Owner description: Aquaterra Adventures is the only Indian company to be rated twice in a row as best adventure travel outfitters on Earth, in a global survey by National Geographic Society, 2008 & 2009. We have been running trips and tours for the discerning traveller throughout the Indian Himalayas since 1995, yet the experience of our travel personnel dates well beyond that, to years of leading trips throughout the Indian Himalayan belt. We believe that an adventure travel outfit is only as good as its guides. Good equipment, food and guides is what makes an outdoor trip an experience to savour.

The Aquaterra crew have proved themselves yet again as one of the best adventure companies in the world. As with our trip in 2016, we could not have run our expedition without the Aquaterra team of amazing guides, cooks, drivers and logistics personnel. The food is excellent, the transportation comfortable and safe, staff and guides extremely personable and kind, and the lodging provided a wonderful sense of rejuvenation throughout our experience. We did not hesitate to work with Aquaterra again for this trip and will definitely use them again in the future!

It was as though the mountanins were calling me and I was drawn towards them. It was in the month of early April’18 when we all of us met at Atali Ganga, some old friends and some new, with warm hugs and cordial hello’s. We were a group of 10, from Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai and were going to be together for the next 10 days.

Trek from Dhak towards Advanced Base Camp- We passed by Josimath, stayed overnight at Pipalkoti, drove to Dhak, started our trek towards our first stop Akhroti, Khulara and then ABC. Approximately 5 hours walk every day with a distance of 500 metres. Our stay at Pipalkoti was at Uday Palalce which was quite a run down. The rest of the days was at the tents given by ATA - North Face Tents and karri mats were neat, clean and in good condition. Basic toilet tents were put up at every campsite. All our needs were taken care off.

Pangarchulla Climb 15000ft, (4000mts) on Day 5, 11th April’18 – First Himalayan Summit. It was pitch dark, only the light of our head torch, snowstorm had just come to an end and our adventure begins. We started at 2:30am from ABC in complete darkness, summit point at 8am left at 8:30 am and back to Khulara via ABC at 3:30 pm. 13 hours non stop. But the feeling was as though I was going to meet an old lover. A lot of anxiety. Vaibhav , it was your team that took us up and brought us down. We couldn’t have done it any other way. Between the four of us who did the summit there were three guides. What more I could have asked for. A big shout out to Prem, without him would have been very difficult to do the summit. Vaibhav, your team was just perfect. They were there with us throughtout, unlike other trekking companies.

Faboulous people, great company, full of life and loads of laughter. I am so glad I met each of one of them- Mitesh, Manish, Bharat, Deepak, Ravi, Ashish, Darshan, Aarti and Niki. After long days we would curl up into our tents and have conversations through them. Guys remember..plate mein bicuit pade hai.., uttarakhand ki do pehchan, raat ko pi sharab…, pagaar badao …, garhwal songs. Deepak and Bharat you guys Rock!!!

Alaknanda River Rafting Day 7- One more tick in my bucket list to another rafting expedition. 6 of us spent the last 3 days at the Alaknanda River. Started from Chamoli, halt at Nandprayag, Gauchar, Rudraprayag and then drove back home to Atali. Atali does make you feel that you have reached home. HP makes us feel very comfortable. Rafting around 30-40 kms everyday which would take us approximately 4 hours. The beaches were excellent.

Vaibhav’s Team Of Aquaterra -
Dhruv briefed us every single day of what was expected the next day. It gave us the much needed confidence.
Rafting team headed by Dhruv Rana was spectacular and impeccable. His knowledge of the rivers and leadership skills are outstanding !! No one knows these rivers more than the way ATA does. Feel absolutely safe with them.
Radhika and the accounts team were really helpful in answering the million questions we had and could not have made it any easier for us to plan.

ATA Food - Nourishing food. Lots of wholesome nuts served. Well thought menu. I am a vegetarian (no eggs no mushrooms) and had no issues at all. Lavish spread for breakfast from Nutella to porridge, oats, boiled eggs…. A differernt cuisine every day. Dry lunch was also a treat with juices, nuts, rolls, sandwiches, nuts, chocolates, dates. 5pm tea and snacks- hot pakoras to samosas to bhel to peanut bhel….6.30 hot soup- loved it. 7.30 dinner – rajma chawal, garhwal dal, pizzas, pastas, paneer, chinese, continental, deserts. The guys having non veg enjoyed a different meal every day. Too much food and too fancy.

Its commendable with the amount of effort and the planning ATA takes, the proffessionalism and lot of warmth , one just cannot think of anyone else. All I can say is that we all will definitely be back very soon especially me on another trip and rafting experience organized by ATA. It's my second trip with ATA and will definitely not be the last. Many more !!!
Viabhav, you guys are simply amazing.

This company does everything great to make your adventure enjoyable and memorable. Your travel through the country to reach your point of take off as well as your return are coordinated and orchestrated to the best. Food through the trip is always safe and very tasty, a food that you can eat with joy as well as experience some of the local comfort. The guides in the rafts are knowledgeable and skillful (I am also a guide from around the world so I can speak with knowledge) as well as being a joy to be with. Activities are fun as well as team building. You do not need rafting skills to participate, however it helps to be able to follow directions. I had to choose a 2017 date for when did you travel, but it was before that date. While I have done guide type work around the world, this trip was strictly for enjoyment without any need to work or any incentives. My history does allow me to make proper judgement evaluations as to skills of the company, the equipment, risks presented, enjoyment presented, and give a true evaluation, actually being more critical as a result. I can recommend this company and now that I don't do this form of work anymore (9 years) I would actually go on any trips with this company. Recommend

Aquaterra Adventures are beyond excellent in every way, and I strongly recommend them to anyone considering an action adventure in India. Their guides are excellent in every way, and organisation and equipment - top quality. We could not be happier.

We have just returned from trekking the Kuari Pass, a 6 day 6 night linear trek of 70km graded as Moderate (in parts challenging) which took us up to 3690m.

We were a large group of 22 trekkers- so we had 4 guides, 7 cooks and camp site helpers, 14 horsemen and 30 horses. It was perfection at every moment, Aquaterra made it work so well- and looking back I am not sure how they did it. To organise all the food, equipment- and more challenging- us all - was genius.

We have enjoyed the most amazing, breathtaking (in every way!), exhilarating and memorable week of our lives. Together with Aquaterra we have scaled heights, up rock slides, down shale slopes whilst meeting 1000 goats, bathed in icy waterfalls and challenged ourselves. We have seen another side to the absolute beauty of India, the Himalayan mountains, the sacred Nanda Devi, the snow topped mountains and high meadows - and just as important- the absolute beauty of everyone we met along our way, from school children, teachers, mothers to goat herders, horsemen and of course, of the Aquaterra team.

Rana excelled and impressed us all. He lead us confidently and superbly. Not one injury, no altitude sickness, and all with a smile and a jest but when needed a serious message which we understood immediately. With 22 Alpha males and females he was just superb. So much affection for him! His headstand at the top of the Kauri Pass will remain with me forever.

Aashima is an absolute star who managed to climb into all our hearts. To be greeted by her each morning was a pleasure. She is so strong, so intelligent, so much fun and with unlimited patience and energy. She helped us all up the mountains, taught us Bollywood dancing, compared our quiz, sang by the fires, and provided a strong and steady leadership.

We trekked through remote countryside, occasionally walking through small villages, apparently less than 100 people a year take on this trek in the direction from Ghat to Auli.
We were rewarded with views that will remain with us forever.

Thank you Aquaterra!

It was a pleasure planning the trek for your group. Your diligence with the responses made it really quite easy for us, and we are so grateful for it.

We are delighted to know that your experience with Aquaterra was considered exceptional by the group. We hope to see you back, and this note of yours will be great motivation for the Aquaterra and Atali teams!
Many thanks, and wishing you a great run upto the year end.

Warmly,

Vaibhav
