Owner description: The focus of this open-air memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is a black marble platform marking the place where the peace leader was cremated after his assassination in 1948. It's a peaceful, beautiful site; memorial ceremonies are held on Fridays.

“Serene and peaceful”

Raj Ghat offers some serenity in a incredibly busy and often times chaotic city. I wouldn't spend a whole day or half a day there, but it's definitely worth a visit. If you want to get closer to the memorial, you will have to remove your shoes.

“"If you love d man n his thoughts do visit for rest { move on }"”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2012

If Martin Luther means something to you, loved hated or thought in awe about Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc. . . . .in India this is the man and place you want to be.

Mahatma or Mahan atma or a great soul as he was called was the main force behind Indian independence. If you feel a connection do come and spend some time around and see how modern India remembers its Father.

“Place of National importance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2012

Wonderful place to spend a whole day, away from the noisy city (though it is in the midst of city, the place is very calm and quite). Also, Vir Bhumi, Shakthi Sthal etc are in the proximity and the place has been very well maintained. Close to Red Fort. Enough parking space and clean toilets.

“Hey Ram”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2012

Just another place to add to the itinerary for the travelers. The best thing to add is the calm and greenery. Very quite and chance to visit the place where national leaders of India put to their rest. Adjacent areas adorn the places where Indiara Gandhi, Jagjivan Ram, Rajiv Gandhi, Nehru and few other leaders where cremated
