“Great first time in India”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2011

We had a great time at Mystique Moments. The room was spotless and the bathroom had hot showers! We stayed in a deluxe double which was a great size and had a large wardrobe that locked which was very useful for storing valuables. Manu was really helpful, and told us about some great local places to eat. We were both very worried about getting ill from the food but we were fine after following his advice! The hostel is located in a residential area which was a lot quieter and safer. We did two tours with Manu, the Delhi day tour and the Golden Triangle Explorer Tour. We were very pleased with both, particularly our wonderful driver Rana, who took us to Jaipur and Agra. If you go on a tour, be sure to ask for him, he's great! We would stay here again if we return to Delhi.

An expensive place to stay (about £15 per person excluding meals) in a poorly converted and situated office block. We struggled to find the hostel due to the poor directions given and the fact that its situe is somewhat "out of the way". Few Tuk Tuks will take you there from the train satiation. The room was nothing short of terrible with an uncomfortable bed, a dirty bathroom and a TV that worked only some of the time. The owner, a supposed doctor, did nothing to amend this. Our room that we booked on hostelworld said it would have air conditioning but the owner refused to give us an air-conditioned room without paying another £5 each per night. We were too tired to argue and foolishly paid up. We would not recommend this place to a friend simply because it is terribly expensive (he was offering tours for as "little" as £100 a day. We spent less than half of that on tours for our 2 month stay in 6 cities in India) and there are so many other options, including the fantastic Wood Castle closer to the center at a lower price.

Please allow me to state some facts which have been quoted wrong. The standard room at Mystique Moments is Non AC and this fact is mentioned clearly on Hostelworld, Hostelsclub and Hostelbookers in the room description and costs Rs600 per person (8.7 British Pounds, or $ 13). The Deluxe Rooms are Air Conditioned and cost Rs 750 per person ( 10.7 Pounds or 17.4 $). The upgrade charges are Rs150 per person per night (2.14 Pounds or $3.5) and that is what was charged and is still charged from every guest who wants an upgrade.
For comparison, the Hostel quoted in the review costs much more, Rs 1195per person per night (British Pounds 17.1 or $27.8) All this can be verified by anyone from the Hostelworld site.
All rooms in Mystique Moments have TVs with Tata Sky connections. For connecting to the sattellite set top box, one has to press the AV button on the TV remote. We explained this to the lady guest three times.
Mystique Moments also offers tours of North India by AC Cars with driver. Most tours are listed on Hostelworld and Hostelsclub and the average price per person per day comes to 18 Pounds or $29. All this is online and can be checked from Hostelworld or on our own website.
We wish to reiterate that Mystique Moments is very particular about cleanliness and during the stay, no guest complained , if someone had , we would have taken immediate steps.
I dont know what motivates such comments, probably the pressures of currency conversion all the time.

This hostel was our first location to stay after arriving to Delhi (room was clean, free internet (WiFi) was available, good breakfast with very tasty masala tea,...). We intended to stay two days and in the meantime find appropriate option to go to Garhwal Himalaya – to Badrinath and to do some trekking to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of flowers. Not only that the owner – dr. Manu Malik, was of great hospitality and kindness, he also advised us which would be the best option to realize our trip in a short time that was available. After considering also several other options (from other agencies) we hired a driver which was provided by Manu. The driver was a wonderful person and we had had a lot of fun traveling together. After the trip we returned to the hostel to stay another two days in Delhi before flying back to Europe. So we had stayed in touch to Manu and his hostel during the whole holidays and we just want to say once again: thanks Manu for all kindness, hospitality and care.

Driver reliable picked us up from airport for $800 rupees. However get to place and sign says $600 for pickup/drop off to airport. Average room, very basic, furniture was well loved. Hardly deluxe suite! things looked like they could do with a good wash ie carpet mats, curtains, walls, bathroom. first place we stayed and after seeing other accommodation prob the least value for money. However great place to arrive and settle before getting into the hustle and bustle. Free breakfast but very basic. Purchased bus tickets from Manu, but company was not reliable, bus didn't leave on time (4 hour delay) and company changed hands 3 times - shuffled us to three locations? All very confusing and bus looked basic once we arrived to depot and saw photos. Flagged waiting after rude service and different stories from bus companies and had to find a last min hotel at 11pm that same night. No refund offered when asked!!!

Manu is very helpful - he did a great job taking care of me and getting me set up for my stay in India, even the parts of it outside of Delhi. He's very knowledgeable about travel in India, and even told me to call him any time I run into trouble throughout my travels in India; wow! Thank you, Manu!
