Owner description: We are based in Delhi and offer a variety of tours in Delhi and from Delhi to several destinations. Our tours tend to get beneath the surface of the destination to explore less known and unique aspects. Various elements are combined to give guests the option of a complete experience - Ayurvedic massages, walks along the back of beyond regions, contact with families, home visits and dinner with families, witnessing performing arts, theater, etc. All these and more fit into the scheme of our tours that bring to our guests a feel and a sense of fulfillment. The guiding principle of our tours are a genuine interest in the guest, right knowledge and true intentions to serve with our heart.

I have now traveled with Trinetra Tours twice, once to the north-west of India, for 3 and a half weeks, and recently on a 5 week trip to South India and Sri Lanka. I have found the company outstanding in many ways: from their flexibility in collaborating with me to create and modify the itinerary, their choice of superb and varied hotels, many of them heritage properties, and their excellent guides and great drivers. Both Tapas, the owner, and the others who work for him, are endlessly gracious, accommodating and warm when dealing with any of the uncertainties that may occur. Trinetra Tours has helped make my trips to India comfortable, stimulating and magical.

We were given a personal recommendation for Trinetra, and I would be happy to offer the same recommendation to any one who wants a well organised, good quality trip from people who really know what they are doing. Everyone we dealt with from Trinetra treated us with professionalism, courtesy and charm, we travelled with them for a 5 week private tour that they had arranged around our requirements, and every part of it met or exceeded our expectations. I must mention our driver Ashok, who was with us for 16 days of the trip, and was great company as well as being brilliant at his job.
In 5 weeks we covered Delhi, Rajasthan,Agra,Orchha,Khajuharo, Varenasi, and Kerela, it was a busy trip with lots of travelling, but at all times we felt confident and relaxed that we were being looked after very well. They say you can only judge a tour operator on how they react when things go wrong, and we tested Trinetra with a small medical drama, and they came up trumps. I titled this "the guest is god" as it was often the response if you thanked someone for their service, and Trinetra certainly seem to live by this.

As an easier explanation, I have written a small blog of our wonderful tour:

Time to start the Trinetra Tour. We flew into Delhi and were met by Trinetra Tour Delhi co-ordinator and our tour driver Ashok. The tour co-ordinators are there to check you into hotels. We were advised when organising the tour that the original hotel, Jaypee Siddharth, was not available as quoted and we needed to upgrade/spend more and book into Jaypee Vasant. That was pretty annoying at the time because we had booked Jaypee Siddharth at the end of our tour and we wanted to keep to the same hotel. We were nicely surprised and delighted with Jaypee Vasant – lovely staff, lovely accommodation, close to restaurants and shops etc. (Unfortunately, annoyingly and sadly we didn’t have anywhere near the experience with Jaypee Siddharth at the end of the tour but that’s not a tour concern).
I won’t get descriptive on the sites we saw –have to leave some mystery!
Our Tour Guides in each city were very informative and gave us time out at some of the sites to discover them ourselves.
We spent our first 2 days/nights in Delhi taken to some beautiful sights as well as a company that sold Cashmere rugs. The companies are legit. Each person (driver, tour guide etc) gets a cut of the proceeds if you purchase (we were advised later). We did purchase 2 rugs (received in NZ 2 days after we got home) but those were the only purchases we made when visiting these Craft companies (taken to Marble company in Agra, Jewellery company in Jaipur). I had purchased a small marble table on my previous trip and am still absolutely delighted with it. In Agra, again met by a Tour Co-ordinator, we were checked into a lovely hotel room with a view of the Taj Mahal. We were taken to the gardens opposite the Taj Mahal on the first night - again, stunning! Up early to line up for the Taj Mahal (note: wear bright colours – awesome in photos against the white Mausoleum). There are separate lines for females, males and Indians. You will find this in a few places on your tour. Even though it was my second visit it feels very spiritual and special. Our Guide insisted we have someone take our photos as we went along. Annoyingly we agreed. They were of bad quality, too many (although we negotiated him down on amount of photos as we only wanted a couple!). Our own photos were spectacular; which our Guide help to take! Lesson learnt! Next day more sites and onto Jaipur. A lot of walking across the busiest streets ever!! Be quick and alert. We were taken on a walk of the Sarees and Bangles which we thought was an absolute waste of time – it made it worse walking with motorbikes coming from all directions at speed up and down lanes - wasn’t fun after a long day.
Unlike my earlier tour we weren't inundated by many Hawkers at all during the tour. The only time there were a massof them was when waiting for the Elephant Ride at Amber Fort. (These guys are cheaper, after a lot of annoying bargaining, than the local markets if you want some little mementos for home).
We took the option of dining with a Rajasthani family. Prior to the meal, we again were taken on a street tour of spices and ingredients (that had nothing to do with the meal we were going to participate in – badly worded itinerary). The family was lovely and we were able to participate in the cooking of the meal. Lots of fun with a very patient hostess in a beautiful home. It was the first day/evening of Holi so we were involved in the lighting of the bonfires (bonfires at most street corners) and the next day was the celebration of Holi (it can get pretty crazy). We left Jaipur early, for Delhi, to try and avoid the colourful celebrations on the highways. We received a number of warnings to keep off the streets. When we got to our hotel in Delhi we took a look outside the hotel gates to see excitable, intoxicated young men on motorbikes..giving us a one finger salute! We then decided to spend the day in the hotel and read (even the swimming pool was closed for Holi).

Our driver Ashok was fantastic – very reliable and professional with a great sense of humour. We couldn’t have got a better driver and so enjoyed his company!

Thank you Trinetra tours for very memorable trip.

We are just back from an amazing 3 week tour of india. From the initial planning of the trip with Mahendra to our departure yesterday our experience with trinetra has been faultless. We have had the most incredible experiences that we will never forget. We visited temples in South india, stayed on a houseboat on the kerala backwaters, a slum tour in Mumbai, saw the Ganges Aarti performance, the Taj Mahal, an afternoon with elephants, forts and palaces. The itinery gave us a cross section of the Indian experience, traversing cultures, civilizations and eras. We were able to witness nature, lifestyles, beliefs, food as well as tourist sites. We had some brilliant guides and drivers especially Vijay our driver for the golden triangle who was exceptional. Trinetra kept in touch with us regularly during the tour ensuring that we were happy. The hotels were excellent and diverse from modern to an old fort hotel. I would recommend trinetra to anyone for a relaxed and fulfilling trip to India. Thank you to all who looked after us on our tour.
