Beautiful hotel. Got upgraded to the 8th floor, junior suite with a balcony and plunge pool, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, etc etc 823A I think. No view of Delhi as the weather was abnormally wet and foggy but it would have been good. Great sleep quality with sliding wooden shutters to block out light.
I would have given the hotel a full five stars except for the restaurants on site. There is an Asian European one and an Indian one. We booked for the latter but found it so offputting we didn't eat there. I think it was because of the weather. Perhaps if the outside had been open/ warm and dry it would have been ok but the interior part in the evening was brightly lit (no candles on tables just overhead lighting etc) and it felt like a shopping mall. The food was good at the Asian one (the waterfront) but we had some language problems with the waiter. Quite a number of members of staff spoke very poor English which we didn't really find at the other hotels I must admit but that's my fault for not speaking any Indian languages either. Breakfast was good with a potato dosa and a fresh sweet lime juice hitting the spot nicely. The coffee from the machines in the room was superior to what was being served at breakfast. We arrived in a DRY DELHI DAY 26th Jan (republic day) so no alcohol was being served in the hotel. The mini bar had beer but no spirits or wine. FYI.
