The AB Original 22 Day High Himalaya Tour is combines fun challenging riding with an epic and amazing introduction to India and the Indian Himalayas (for me first timer in India). I have done several Guided Self-guided Motorcycle Tours, including Patagonia (guided 3 weeks), Morocco (guided 2 weeks), Central Asia (guided 3 weeks), Spain/Portugal (guided 3 weeks), New Zealand (self-guided 4 weeks), and multiple self-guided tours through USA and Canada. Atul is the owner of AB Original. This Tour was well organized, from initial booking, airport pickup upon arrival, hotel bookings and at end of the tour being dropped off at the airport. My trip included a couple additional days as I arrived early so I could tour Delhi and stayed several days after the motorcycle tour ended on July 22 so that I could Tour the Taj Mahal and Jaipur. Atul made arrangements for these additional Tours. As for the Motorcycle Tour, the riding at times was challenging (it didn't help that I was the only American stuck amongst 9 Aussies and New Zealanders -- having trouble understanding them, but essentially at end of day their conversation can be summed up as "Blah, blah, blah, BEER, Blah, blah, blah, COLD BEER, blah, blah, blah, NO COLD BEER, OK GIVE ME THE WARM BEER." Seriously, could not have asked for a better group to ride with. The Lead Tour Guide, Dheeraj did an outstanding job making sure everything went smoothly, and the two support vehicles with certified Royal Enfield Mechanic ensured bikes were always in tip top condition and offered an alternative to riding if roads proved a bit too challenging (an option not needed with our group). Half-way through the trip Atul and his wife Shelja joined us and road with us for several days (celebrating Shelja's birthday). This truly was a Tour of a lifetime. My warmest thanks to Atul, Dheeraj and the rest of the crew. If you want to tour India by Motorcycle, AB Original Tours is a must. After starting in Delhi by train - Atul or a crew member will escort you to the right platform and carriage - if you have ever been to Delhi station you will understand this would not be an easy task for a "western" person. You are soon on your way to leave the plains and be engulfed by the most awesome Himalayan foothills where you will spend the next two weeks on the most amazing and scary mountain roads. At almost any time you are just a couple of metres from disaster - a 500 to 800 metre drop on one side, a Tata truck a metre on the other side But in spite of all this accidents really are a rare event. As you travel the diverse nature of the area becomes apparent - sometimes you are in temperate jungle surrounded by monkeys while later in the day you may be in rhododendron forest or high altitude grasslands - passing through everything in between. It is easy to see why the Hindus believe their gods live in these mountains - well maybe they do as they are unlike anywhere else. The bikes are all good - new Royal Enfield Himalayans - comfortable and suited to the task. The accommodation varies from basic to fabulous depending on the location. You do not travel far each day - 140/150 km but as speeds are low - 20 to 30 kmph each days ride is about 6 hours of intense concentration - higher speeds would be dangerous and you would not have time to admire the fabulous views. An absolutely fabulous tour in a very underrated and unusual area off the main tourist route- the potential of this area is unlimited.
