“Great hotel great people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2012

We just want to say a massive thank you to all staff, this hotel is  one of the best in Delhi.Amber is a particular place with a very special charm and with a Team, which is an extra class in kindness, attention and service quality. We enjoyed our stay very much, despite the fact that Delhi was very hot those days and at Amber  with the central A/C the rooms and all  public areas were little chilly. The morning breakfast is a good spread .hotel was a fantastic place. Rooms are very special and decoration is done with apparently a lot of good taste and love to detail.  The food at the hotel was superb in fact it rates amongst the best meals we had on the whole trip. The staff at the reception and Manager will tell you where to go in case you need to explore more, the Chef in the morning make sure that your breakfast  is ready to eat....in short everyone will go that extra mile to make your stay comfortable.

We can recommend highly this place as your second home while you staying in Delhi.

The Amber is reasonably priced hotel in quiet area in Delhi. I found it's location very convenient to places of interest in south Delhi, Lotus temple, Humayun's Tomb are 10-15 minutes drive away If you stay here. The hotel itself is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Metro isn't a short walk, but it isn't far either (about 10-15 minutes walk for Apollo /Jasola station). The hotel makes breakfast on site with decent options.Their in house restaurant for lunch and dinner. The restaurant's food is cheaper as compare to Delhi's expensive food outlet/Restaurant, but execellent. I would recommend eating lunch/dinner here.
Overall, I rate the hotel 5/5 because it met my needs during my business stay, it might meet tourist's needs as they do help arranging sightseeing tours and booking train tickets. If you're looking for a quiet and a nice hotel in south Delhi, I would certainly recommend The Amber !!!

Room Tip: All Rooms are nice, theme, de core & space of rooms are very nice.

I can say that this hotel is certainly one of the best I have stayed
in.The 'choice' of hotels in Delhi from typical old/new guest houses
to expensive 5 star, impersonal and not a value for money at all.The
Amber is a real gem in Delhi. The rooms and bathrooms are very
comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff and the General manager are
genuinely delightful and cannot do enough to ensure you are
comfortable at this hotel .The roof-top garden is absolutely stunning
and provides a fantastic view of the Lotus temple and Delhi's blue sky
at night. Added to this was excellent food and the best cup of coffee
which I managed to find in India as they have a nice Italian Machine
which is a state of art !.I felt very much safe in the hotel and after
the madness of Delhi, this hotel provided a definite oasis of calm !! I
would highly recommend this hotel to other travellers and would
definitely stay here again on my next visit in end of this year !!!.

Well done the Amber staff and the Management !!!!!!!!!!!

Having not stayed at any other hotel in Delhi it is hard to draw comparisons for the Amber. However, i would not agree entirely with the other reviewers about how great the hotel is. It has lots of good points, but a few things let it down.

The hotel is in a quiet location which is good to escape the craziness of Delhi but this makes it difficult to get to the more touristy areas. Rickshaw/taxi drivers will often be able to get you into the city but without knowing your way around, its difficult to find someone to get you back to the hotel. On one occasion, our poor rickshaw driver stopped at three different hotels and asked for directions countless times before we got home. In the end it is easiest to get dropped to Escorts hospital and then walk into the hotel (not far only about 500 metres).

I found the staff very eager to help which was great but they often were unable to help with recommendations for restaurants, bollywood cinemas, trip ideas. Im not sure if they just didn't know these things or if the questions weren't understood. When we arranged to go to Agra through the hotel, they were unable to describe what would happen during the trip, despite my stream of questions. We asked whether we should take food for the drive, how we would be able to find the driver at the end of the day etc and they could not tell us. I think this was more to do with the specific reception staff's grasp of english. The trip to Agra was full of surprises as everything in India is and it would have been made a bit more enjoyable had we known what to expect.

The rooms are fine, beds comfy, beautifully decorated, good internet access, well stocked mini bar etc but the bathrooms were a massive let down. There was a phone point falling out of the wall with wires etc exposed. There was rust all over the mirrors, it was impossible to control the water temperature and it normally fluctuated between hot and scalding. Also, I would recommend asking for a room with a window to outside, the central rooms become quite gloomy with no natural light.

The food was really tasty and the menu extensive. Breakfast was good with more then what you could want. The dining room is in the basement which is fine for breakfast but maybe not the most interesting place to have dinner.

Overall it is a fine hotel and i am sure that it compares well to others in Delhi, there were just a few improvements that would help it to be a great hotel.

Nice rooms, good service, breakfast not bad, internet fast and stable, but location a bit poor. Hard to get taxis there and back but otherwise a great hotel. Great value
